I was worried we'd never get this in HD (it isn't even available in HD digitally). Thankfully Criterion seems to have licensed it before Disney bought Fox.

The screencaps on Criterion's site look a bit teal. It does tamper my excitement although I will still absolutely get this.

EDIT: Looking more through them, I don't remember the film looking this teal.

Looking at the screencaps and it doesn't look that teal to me at all. Whites are still white (look at the white dress on the last screencap) and skin tones look normal.

Yeah, I was just looking maybe a few instances but the film seems to be bathed in some color saturation in some shots.

This might not look as teal-ed as other Fox 1950's titles.

It's not a blanket teal, but there's probably more teal/blue in it than there used to be. It looks similar to many other Fox BD's in that regards.

Definitely not as egregious as Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter. Skin tones in this do look natural unlike on that one.

Yes, if the screenshots are accurate, it's definitely going to be a teal job but I can't say I'm surprised because the specs seem to indicate this is a transfer done a while ago (no mention of 2K or 4K), probably done when Fox was tealing their movies.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we will have another option like we did with Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter:

What's up with that first pic I just posted btw? Is it mid-dissolve? It looks like the lampshade behind her is also outlined on her face? Same for her leg, and the chair.

Criterion has kept a relationship with Disney esp when it comes to their Wes Anderson produced films. I think it leaves the door opened for FOX titles from Criterion. One can hope.

That guy at Cineric responsible for all those teal Fox titles must have had a running competition with Ritrovatta's colorist to see who could ruin the palettes of the most vintage films.

In that scene, Julie London is a ghost, or maybe better described as a figment of imagination. So she should look a bit transparent.

I was going to ask if she was a ghost, but when I read the synopsis I didn't see anything that connected to that. I've never seen the film. Thanks!

Been wanting/waiting/hoping (to quote an old rock & roll song) for this for years, but this teal nonsense makes me just about convinced to go back and pick up that FOX Jayne Mansfield box set that I had sitting in my cart for years...

The John Waters interview is from the Second Sight DVD and the Toby Miller audio commentary is from the DVD in Fox's Jayne Mansfield Collection DVD box set:

The Fox DVD also had the Jayne Mansfield A&E Biography episode:

Holy crap! I can't believe this is happening. I thought that between it being a Fox title and the music rights, that we would never get this. I picked up the UK release of The Sheriff Of Fractured Jaw, so now I will have the Mansfield set in HD. It looks like I will have to hang on to the Dvd though. I love the bright colors of this film on the Dvd. And Eddie Cochran makes it to blu ray! Now we just need Untamed Youth (1957). As for Jayne, my next most wanted on blu....

I wish they would have used the original poster art that featured Jayne in the most famous scene from the movie in that dress:

The following page has a great collection of poster art, lobby cards, and stills from the movie:

This seems to be an advertisement from an exhibitor trade magazine:
