2025 needs more Blu-ray treatments:
- How I Met Your Mother: The Complete Series (just in time for the 20th anniversary this year, 4th season was out on Blu-ray for a long time but due to poor sales, the rest were DVD exclusives only. I want to see a director's cut of the series finale.) - The Savages (2007) (This has never gotten a Blu-ray release at all, hopefully Criterion!) - F is for Family: The Complete Series (the 1st season was released in Australia and Germany. But since this Netflix adult animated show turns 10 this year, hopefully that happens. Need to see more extras and commentaries) - Over the Garden Wall (Hopefully Warner could release it in North America with better colours and 5.1 audio mix) - The Looney Tunes Show: The Complete Series (Warner Archive) - Unaccompanied Minors (Warner Archive) |

Some additional films and TV films I'd like to see get physical media releases this year:
Films: Bloody Homecoming Lies (1983) A Reason to Live, a Reason to Die (the longer cut) Ruby (the cast including Piper Laurie and Stuart Whitman) Screamtime Varsity Blood The Vast of Night (2019) Windy City (1984) TV films: The Babysitter (1980) Deadly Intentions (1985). Regarding Paramount, I know there are the releases by Kino and Via Vision (Imprint Films), but I had hoped for a UK release of the Paul Newman-starring film noir Twilight with plenty of extras and the cut footage I had read about. Only seen it once (rented it on video) and loved it. Last edited by OceanBlue; 03-15-2025 at 01:54 AM. Reason: Added paragraph to post about nineties film noir Twilight. |

Watership Down, I won't quote your long post from further up this page (not a criticism), but you mention a few films I'd too like to see get Blu-ray releases:
Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore Home Sweet Home Paperhouse Pinocchio's Revenge. Came across recently a couple of television films, the first of which I think may be with Disney (based on it's IMDb company credits page): Reflections of Murder (from the mid-seventies) and Trackdown: Finding the Goodbar Killer (the cast includes George Segal and Shelley Hack). UK boutique label Treasured Films are doing a release of nineties film Mikey. Hoping we see from them or another boutique label another nineties film, The Paperboy. Two other television films I'd like to see get physical media releases (the latter could be with Disney, based on it's IMDb company credits page): The Girl on the Late, Late Show (could be with Sony) and Jealousy (I found out about this after reading that part or all of it's music score is part of a CD album release). |

In terms of ones not listed here, that actually have a snowball's chance in hell:
-Greed (1924) -Ben-Hur (1925) 4K -King Kong (1933) 4K -Captain Blood (at least the 1924 and 1935 films uncut) -Some more OAC Disney films, Fox films, Touchstone films, and Hollywood films on 4K -Room Service, At The Circus, Go West, and The Big Store -The Magnificent Ambersons 4K (with the laserdisc special features) -Quo Vadis 4K -Ben-Hur (1959) 4K -The Alamo (roadshow cut, stateside, since Koch has it out in Europe already) -West Side Story (1961) 4K -The Day Of The Triffids restored (are there even any remotely non-sucky copies of this?) -Doctor Zhivago (1965) 4K -Bonnie And Clyde (1967) 4K -Who's That Knocking At My Door (1967) -The Wild Bunch (1969) 4K -The French Connection 4K (not screwed up) -Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore (1974) -One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest (1975) 4K -Dog Day Afternoon (1975) 4K -Saturday Night Live, complete and uncut, on Blu-ray (the S1-S5 DVDs were uncut except for the bumpers, since the episodes were/are a straight 95 minutes and the networks cut the minutes-long bumpers to play commercials; this was cut from the DVD partially due to redundancy and partially due to the limitations of the DVD format, but the show can be 100% uncut on Blu-ray; in addition, S1-S5 (admittedly the best five years) are 100% authorized permanently, so these could hit Blu-ray without a hitch) -The Wiz (replaced 4K with original sound options in addition to the fixed Atmos) -Caddyshack (1981) 4K -Tron 4K (already confirmed to be slightly edited, which blows, but I'm still in) -The Last Temptation Of Christ (1988) 4K -Freddy's Nightmares (1988-1990) -Fright Night Part II -Dances With Wolves (1990) 4K -Goodfellas remastered 4K (1990) -A remastered Terminator 2 in that 2-Film Collection set -Reservoir Dogs 4K with fixed sound -Beavis And Butt-head complete and uncut (considering someone at Paramount helped create the King Turd bootleg, they have to know people want this) -Wild Wild West 4K (sadly the most likely of all my entries here, given Arrow's recent releases of Swordfish and Lost In Space) -Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair -Extended cuts of Django Unchained and The Hateful Eight No chance in hell, but I want them anyway: -The Wizard Of Oz with restored mono sound on 4K -Gone With The Wind 4K (the negatives were confirmed to have arrived for scanning, still at least a year out) -Fantasia uncut on 4K (it does exist) -Casablanca with restored mono sound on 4K -The Robe (both cuts) on 4K -A Star Is Born (1954), all cuts, on 4K (the 1954 theatrical cut and all three Haver restorations - two done after his death - are confirmed to exist; the premiere cut and roadshow cut are rumored to exist) -Around The World In 80 Days (in the works, but nowhere near complete) -Forbidden Planet 4K (it'll happen at some point, but I don't know who will do it) -Raintree County, all cuts (yeah, I ain't shutting up about this one, even though it hasn't been greenlit and is minimum several years away) -Sleeping Beauty 4K -A Bucket Of Blood, The Little Shop Of Horrors, The Terror, and The Wasp Woman, all on 4K, all in both 1.85 and 1.37, and with all bonus features included -El Cid 4K (uncut) -Lolit 4K (uncut, restoration has been done) -The Fall Of The Roman Empire 4K (uncut) -The Greatest Story Ever Told 4K (all cuts) -2001: A Space Odyssey 4K with the deleted scenes -Mondo Trasho -Last Summer (but supposedly WAC is actually working on this, per the Warner Classics Facebook page, for 2026) -Ryan's Daughter 4K -Woodstock 4K (both cuts, both the quad and 5.1 tracks, with all surviving film as special features) -The Devils, 117-minute cut -A Clockwork Orange 4K with restored mono and hopefully the rough cut (confirmed to exist) -Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory 4K with restored mono -THX-1138 4K (all cuts fully restored) -The Godfather Saga -********er Blues (at least not until Mick Jagger dies, at most not until all of the Rolling Stones are dead) -Cabaret 4K -American Graffiti 4K (completely redone, the last one was an abject disaster) -The Exorcist 4K (1973 original theatrical cut) -Sybil (100% uncut, for the first time ever on video) -Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return Of The Jedi 4K (original theatrical versions) -Salem's Lot 4K (all cuts) -The Hobbit (R+B), The Lord Of The Rings (Bakshi), and The Return of The King (R+B), 100% original cuts, on Blu-ray or 4K -American Hot Wax (but considering they never licensed any music for this, in a clerical error that likely made heads roll then and makes mine spin now, I doubt this will ever happen) -The Shining 4K, with restored mono, original color timing, both ARs, and all surviving cuts (UK and US cuts definitely survive, original ending presumed lost) -Blade Runner 4K (all cuts fully restored) -Don Bluth's films on 4K, fully restored -Scarface 4K (proper color timing, original lossless soundtrack, original roadshow format) -The Watcher In The Woods (uncut, confirmed to exist) -Something Wicked This Way Comes (uncut, confirmed to exist) -The Keep (rough cuts, confirmed to exist) -V: The Original Miniseries, The Final Battle, and The Series, on either 4K or Blu-ray, completely restored, completely uncut, in their original 1.33:1 ARs, and with their original mono soundtracks -Once Upon A Time In America 4K (all cuts, fully restored, with restored mono) -The Black Cauldron (uncut, confirmed to exist) -Pee-wee's Big Adventure (this will happen at some point, though I have no clue who it will be from) -Under The Cherry Moon 4K (Shout or bust) -Little Shop Of Horrors 4K (confirmed to be restored, and confirmed to be with Shout...what's the holdup?) -Deadly Friend (original director's cut, presumed lost) -I'd like for something from Massacre Video to actually show the f*ck up -Full Metal Jacket 4K (with restored mono) -The Unbearable Lightness Of Being -Wh*re (current disc runs 85 minutes, alternate 80-minute and 92-minute cuts are confirmed to exist on VHS, unknown if "If you can't say it, just see it." was merely a title on the box or whether there was yet another cut of the film) -Remastered 4Ks of Batman and Batman Returns that aren't screwed up -It 4K (192 minutes, 1.33:1, 2.0 lossless stereo, commentary ported over...pretty pathetic when you have to be that specific) -At Play In The Fields of The Lord (unknown if any film elements survive, despite the movie being fairly recent) -Home Alone 2: Lost In New York 4K (allegedly restored by Disney several years ago, with a 2022 release date...where is it?) -Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls (all cuts...probably Arrow in the UK at some point) -Batman Forever original cut (confirmed to exist) -Assassins 4K (either Shout or Arrow) -Heat (original theatrical cut with original theatrical color timing) -The Rock 4K -Armageddon 4K (both cuts) -Eyes Wide Shut 4K (at least the actual director's cut that Kubrick turned in on March 1, 1999) -Pearl Harbor 4K (both cuts) -Remastered 4Ks of The Matrix, LOTR, Bourne, and Pirates Of The Caribbean -Speed Racer 4K -All of Bojack Horseman on Blu-ray -Barbarian (FINALLY!) ...among others. |

Now that Kino is gifting us 'The Night of the Juggler' and 'Rampage' this year, it seems the impossible can truly come true.
I will be putting into the universe my desire for two Ryan O'Neal films among my top wishes - 'The Thief Who Came to Dinner' and 'Fever Pitch' |

I can't believe this is NOT on Blu-ray yet. I don't even see plans to at this point.
War films are a favorite and especially since Cliff Roberts was picked by John Kennedy to play him in the film. |
