I just went through a considerable portion of reviewed movies on this site and am quite concerned by the lack of special features or poor ratings given to features by the reviewer(s).
I was under the impression that Blu-ray had the potential for greatness - huge storage (25-50 gigs), and while the video and sound is dazzling, for me to spend an extra 10$ on a BD I need features that at least match their Standard Def DVD brethren. At least throw in another disk for special features. When I look at my T2 SD DVD vs. the Blu counterpart, the SD has loads of stuff compared to the pittance on the Blu. Same goes with From Hell, Hell Boy, AVP. When I see a 5 disk Blu version of Blade Runner for 36$, and a single disk of the above titles with no features for 25$-32$, I'm left a little puzzled. In the hopes of swaying people over to the HiDef side, I would have expected that the Blu camps and studios would have given more than just picture and sound to differentiate themselves from standard def. It's just a let down and a lack of fulfillment when I should feel utter elation and resounding affirmation that my money is well spent and the future is here. |

I mean, if there were two movie theaters side by side - one showing the feature, and another showing trailers and inside peeks and stuff - would you pay money to go into the trailer show? Quote:

Once again: would you pay more for those features? Or do you think they cost nothing to produce and include? I'd prefer they lower the cost of the film, personally, and leave it off. |

First post, he's upset with the entire Blu-Ray system... Well, I guess he'll stick with DVD for a while, get his money's worth out of a feature filled disk. |

Extras, IMHO, belong on a second disc, so that the main feature can take up as much space and bandwidth as possible. Of course, the studios will probably double-dip, and the extras will come then... |

I am not upset w/ the system and have been a Blu-Ray advocate for some time now. I am a film geek, who finds the process of film, more often than not, more satisfying than the product and good extras delve deep into the art of film making and expose' the many smart and talented people who provide you with the entertainment you so desperately crave. There's a lot more to film than seeing the intricate weave on a pirate's sleeve or distinguishing the intricate tones of a thousand individual raindrops during a tropical downpour. DVD and especially Blu-Ray can and should provide viewers and aficianados alike the choices they demand from the medium. Enjoy your popcorn and sorry for overstepping my posting boundaries - it clearly must make me a moron. |

It is about making your first, second, tenth, twentieth post something like this. It is bad form and honestly pretty dumb. There are thousands of better ways to make a point that you are not happy with blu extras so far. |

One must, also, understand that Blu-ray is just a platform/stage on which to place this ART. If some movies don't have the EXTRA FEATURES you desire, that is NOT Blu-ray's fault. People should understand this by now. EXTRAS are from the MOVIE STUDIOS. Take your compliants about extras there. Lastly, the move is to 720/1080 extras, if you haven't noticed. A lot of the EXTRAS in older movies were done on 480 cameras. The means there is NO way to give a 720/1080 presentation of that material. BTW, I noticed you didn't mention the TONS of extras on Pirates of the Caribbean 1, 2, or 3. You didn't mention the TONS of EXTRAS on Spider-man 3, Lost: Season 3, Cars, Chicken Little, Ratatouille, Live Free or Die Hard, The Day After Tomorrow, etc. I wonder why you would leave these amazing presentations with trivia tracks, interactive games, most of the extras in High-Def? The DVD version pale in comparison to the Blu-ray versions of this titles. Did you just happen to forget about these? Maybe you are just reacting to what you were told and not what you have seen. Or, maybe you haven't seen much at all. Now, go see these titles I've mention and research and rent other like them. Then, you come back here and make an educated post about EXTRAS by not blaming it on Blu-ray. Thank you. |
