I don't know how old you are, but I am sorry to hear the news. Not sure if you wanted to be the "noodle guy" forever or whether it was just an interim thing. If you'd like my advice, it would be to do what you can to get an education (or continue the one you're working on) so that you can have doors open in front of you. You'll be fine longer term if you do this.

I have people in my broader Finance organization who worked two jobs to support their families, and went to school at the same time (these people were in the mid/late 20's when they did this). When they graduated, and were met with an opportunity, they were prepared and didn't fail.

Many times, it's just preparation meeting opportunity. Sometimes, change is sprung upon you so that it spurs you on to bigger things.

Good luck.

What type of business are you going to open? My family and I just started our own business. It's a great feeling.

PC repair and custom builds. Me and some high school friends have been talking about it and we are going to the same college. I'll be sure to always offer if people would like blu-ray players in their pc's!

You could, if you're so inclined, learn about setting up home theaters and calibrating them. Get professionally trained and you could, depending on your location, make some serious money with it. HDTV is gonna grow big soon.

Sounds like a good plan. I got a degree in Radio Broadcasting, not even thinking how much I would be making and the availability of jobs. Yeah, money=not so much....availability of jobs=not so much. Just a warning in case you get a wild hair and wanna go into radio.

Look at losing your job as an opportunity. I lost my job after Katrina, and I got one that was 100x better, the pay went up 3 times, the hours are a bit longer, and I get all the overtime I could possibly want! I've got a lot better benefits package, better 401k matching, heck, everything is just better.

Don't settle for any job, shoot for better then you think you can get, and sell yourself well in the interview. You might be surprised by what you can get, I know I was.

Well I believe most do it to get a bit of comfort. People like getting some support after something bad happens to them.

Also thanks for all the support people, I have been thinking non stop about it and asking a few teachers today about what classes I should take and how I would start the buisness. One even said try doing it durring college... but that would be a hassle.

This is definitely a good recommendation!

Perhaps if I didn't already have a career this would be one of my career option!
