Default Anyone know where to learn home theater setup?

I've been really interested in home theater and find it rewarding to put together a nice home theater system. I currently am in sales, but I know I don't want to do it forever (at least the company and industry I am in). I really would be interested in finding out how to get into calibrating TVs and learning more about audio mechanics.

Does anyone know of or have any suggestions on where I could train or learn about this stuff? I really don't want to start at Best Buy and learn through the Geek Squad, I'm sure there are better places to learn.

Search the forums, especially the A/V forum. I've learned alot by reading posts and asking questions when I can't find the answer with the search function here, Google, or Wiki. Major props to Crackinheadz. Werd.

Basically learned everything myself through these forums, wikipedia, and browsing the stuff at Best Buy, Costco, Circuit City - and reading instruction manuals. Plenty of those. But these forums have plenty of answers.

If you want to calibrate tvs professionally there are various I.S.F. training courses one can take to get certified.

You can always attend CEDIA courses at the major expos. Perhaps the best thing is to get some experience pre-wiring homes as this is where the install ladder starts and you learn the most basic stuff. Work on learning from your fellows and move up to trim out and then finally onto finish installation. Programming is another huge field that you can become involved in.

The same thing goes for reading. has anybody read something they didn't want to read? you read it but you dont understand what you just read, and it seems like your taking forever to get trough one page? thats because your force reading. now read something you really want read, and you'll fly trough it quick and understand what it was about.
