Default Please don't put spoilers in reviews

I just finished reading Greg Maltz's review of No Country for Old Men. In it, he reveals practically every detail of the plot. Reputable reviewers don't do this.

I didn't get a chance to see this movie in the theater, and have been looking forward to seeing it for the first time on Blu-ray. My enjoyment of the movie will be diminished due to having read this review. I don't want to know everything about a movie prior to seeing it for the first time.

Your reviewers need to recognize the fact that many people reading their reviews will not have already seen the movie, and they should take care not to include spoilers in their reviews.

In my experience with reading the reviews on this site I've found that they are generally spoiler-free, but that was certainly not the case with this one.

Please instruct your reviewers not to include too many plot details, especially crucial ones, in their reviews.

Thanks.

What Greg says in the review happens within the first act of the film. Once you see the film, you'll see how he only gave you a small taste of what actually happened.

Thanks Subgun and thanks Josh for your feedback. I wrote the review carefully and did not include any spoilers. The review discusses abstractions about the characters as much as specifics of the plot, but I will further tone down some details and make it clear that my discussion of the first minutes of the film happens at the very beginning, in response to subgun's post.

I have also looked at other reviews of this film and they tend to go into detail on just as many scenes as I did--for example, the reputable British newspaper, The Guardian: http://film.guardian.co.uk/News_Stor...242313,00.html

Thank you Josh and Greg for your clarifications. I suppose it's hard to determine if too much of the plot is revealed without having seen the movie.

Greg, I apologise for being too critical of your review. I've enjoyed your reviews in the past.

I just took another look at the review and it didn't look as bad to me this time. I thought I remembered a reference to one of the main characters (Llewelyn) being dead in the Video section of the review, but I guess I was mistaken.

Thanks again to you both.

John

I watched the movie the other weekend and that review doesnt tell you anymore than the back of the dvd case will tell you. Of course the review has a bit more detail, but doesnt tell you how the story unfolds or ends. I think you are safe.
