Default Goldmund Eidos 20 BD Player - $17,000

Start saving now, here's the first look at Goldmund's $17,000 Blu-ray player. Now Krell or Meridian needs to get in the game.

http://www.goldmund.com/news/

Most here could probably afford this if they sold their car and were willing to bicycle...

A BD player that my TV can't show everything, my eyes can't see all it does, my sound system won't deliver, my ears won't hear and my budget won't let me buy

I noticed they highlighted a few Pioneer components, thanks but I'd rather stick with my 95FD and save over $16,000. Besides, I'm not feeling the white chassis.

lol. In any case, it better do a lot more than that. It better pull a Soundwave and turn into a Decepticon that is 20 feet tall somehow. And can take me places.

That dude can put it in his $6,000,000 home theater.

Honestly, how many of these do they actually sell? MAYBE 100 in the US? Even if I was flush for this kind of discretionary spending, I'd still consider it obscene.

I would bet they sell all they can make, Golmund is a serious high end brand and i bet people with high end theater set ups are just waiting for something like that.

What's even better is in their full press release, they mention their $300,000 turntable!!! A $17,000 Blu-ray player seems like a bargain by comparison.

I thought you were gonna finish that with "in case I want to watch a movie more than once."

spend 1 or 2 grand on a blu ray player and invest the other $ 15,000 or $ 16,000.

Like you say, if it costs $300,000 for a turntable then the price of the Blu-ray player almost seems like they're giving it away. Who the hell would spend that much on a turntable, the mind boggles

To paraphrase that great quote from TopGun, "Son, your hobby (ego) is writing checks that your budget (body) can't cash."
