Default Blu-ray predicted to be top selling web enabled device by 2012

http://www.homemediamagazine.com/index.cfm?sec_id=2

Interesting prediction.

"Overall, Web-enabled DVD and Blu-ray players are expected to top 50 million unit sales, according to MultiMedia Intelligence, a Scottsdale, Ariz.-based technology data tracking service.
The tally does not include Sony Corp.’s PlayStation 3 video game systems, which feature a Blu-ray disc drive."

Best selling web enabled device? Odd prediction. So they think it will out sell computers too? Those are web enabled. Interesting...

This, of course, is all moot, because as we all know the world will end in 2012. The research is fairly conclusive.

Assuming that they are no including computers in this "prediction" that still leaves cell phones. By 2012 every cell phone will be web enabled (we're almost at that point now) and I'm pretty sure there are more cell phones in use now than DVD, Blu-ray and HD-DVD players combined. To say that there will be more Blu-ray players than cell phones in 2012 is absurd!

There's a prediction for ya.

computers will probably be bd standard by then. also, in my household of me and two roommates there are three cell phones and about 15 dvd/bd players in the house. sure it's a small sample space and i'm sure they don't count cell phones either. actually I don't know what the hell they're trying to compute. I live in scottsdale so I should stop by and be all WTF?

I think they are banking on all the nice people that live in trailer parks who can't afford a computer but have money for booze, donuts, every channel on Dish and a Blu-ray player.

It's just that even the sun will be blu-ray by 2012 and the Mayans visions which came to them in black and white appeared to be blacked out when bathed in blu light.

Yea I'm guessing that the top selling web enabled devices will be cell phones, now and in 2012.
