Default Please Help...lol.. blu-ray newbie

Hi All...Brad here..no room at bottom...thanks for your help in advance!

first time poster, long time viewer!
after alot of consideration, i have jumped on board with my first blu-ray player.
i have purchased the sony bdp-s300...i am not one for interactivity things..so this player will do just fine for me i think...
my player came with 3.2firmware...
here is where i need help..

i have a 42 inch panasonic model #TH-42PX75U
for surround, i have a Yamaha RX-V661 receiver
i know that this receiver is hdmi1.2

for the best possible picture, and sound for me, what should my settings be at? my couch is approximately 10 feet away from the tv
am i missing anything important in the firmware updates i have missed?

Welcome! Check out the review thread for this player. Should be lots of good advice on setup and menu navigation.

First thing you need to do is upgrade your firmware to 3.70..and then follow the link from the previous member post....and you should be alright...

Welcome...to a nice site to meet all your needs.

Video Setup

TV Type: 16:9
4:3 Video Out: Normal
YCbCr/RGBPC(HDMI): Y, Cb, Cr
24p: Off

Audio Setup

Dolby Digital: Dolby Digital
DTS: DTS
DTS Downmix: Stereo
Audio(HDMI): Auto

Calibrate your TV via TV settings not Blu-Ray settings. You should be able to play PCM tracks with that receiver as well. You will want firmware version 3.7 to play all possible discs.
