Default Are all Optical Cables.....

Are optical cables all the same, like HDMI, or are there better quality brands to get? If so, can you recommend a good brand that I would find at Circuit City or Best Buy? Thanks.

I know you wanted to get a cable at a b&m, but these are very good and cheap.

Anyone know of a good optical switch? I posted this in another thread, but it is burried. I don't see any on monoprice, and amazon's seem to have some mixed reviews.

There is one on monoprice. Its a manual switch that runs about $6.

If you want one that switches electronically, get ready to pay out the nose

I am fine with manual. I just could not find it on monoprice. I don't want to order it from amazon because, they are from the marketplace sellers, I would rather buy it directly.

No, Monster is not the best brand whether you look at it from quality or excessive price. Monster is a marketing company that happens to sell cable (and other stuff) when it's not filing hundreds of trademark lawsuits against those such as little kids dressing up as monsters for Halloween. (See sig.)

I bought 2 Monster HDMI cables when I first bought into BD... And let me tell you something that should have been told to me before I bought them...

Monster is the Bose of cables... Overpriced and unnecessary. Look at Crackinhedz' sig.

He has a link that explains all about HDMI cables and why cheap ones are just as good as overpriced Monsters

http://boardsus.playstation.com/play...read.id=828972

(I saved you the search... I know your qusetion was about Optical cables but the same essential information applies)

I was as ignorant as most everyone else and bought their cables until I read stuff here ending with the link in my sig.. then I was completely disgusted with them. So yes, I 'have it out for Monster' as I would any other company that goes out of its way to hurt people.

i agree... Dont get me wrong, Bose does sound great. However, IMO they are overpriced for what they are. I honestly prefer a nice Polk, Klipsch, or B&W... again, IMO

B&W Mini Theater speakers are a steal at $1,500 compared to a $3k bose system!!! I was going to get them for the bedroom....but my wife would like me to take the T.V. out of the bedroom completely .....
