This thread is to help you, while watching vampire movies (or find yourselves in the presence of one), know what to do.
Please feel free to add any rules that you know or clever quip. ![]() 1. Vampires are obsessive compulsives, if you want to stop a vampire from chasing you, throw a handful of rice on the ground, they would be forced to stop and count every grain of rice. ![]() 2. There are several ways to kill a vampire besides the traditional stake through the heart, decapitation (used in 30 Days of Night), running water(ex. a flowing river, see 1965's "Dracula: Prince of Darkness".), direct exposure to sunlight(unless your reading an Anne Rice novel, if the vampire is old enough, they can go out in the sunlight and it will just give them a tan so they can move about without the pale skin.) ![]() 3. Vampires can only enter your house if they are invited(which can be overturned by revoking your invitation once you figure out your houseguest likes to drink blood, wear capes, and wear poet shirts. see 1979's "Salem's Lot" or 1985's "Fright Night".) ![]() 4. Vampires hate crucifixes or any other religious symbol(that depends on the main religion of the area. Case in point 1974's "The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires" by Hammer studios, it was set in Japan and since the religion there is Buddhism, images of Buddha were used as Vampire repelant.) ![]() 5. Vampires hate Garlic(Garlic was used to ward of evil spirits in Europe and surrounding countries.) ![]() 6. By killing the head Vampire, his/her minions will cease to be Vampires.(That only works if the minion has not made their full transfomation into a Vampire. Through multiple Vampire bites over a period of time or drinking the blood of their first victim, it usually takes a while before you become a full fledged creature of the night. Ex. see 1958's "Horror of Dracula" and 1987's "The Lost Boys".) ![]() 7. Vampires do not cast reflections in mirrors or any other reflective surface. (Unless you drop a crucifix in water, then the water automatically becomes Holy and you can see the vampire in it. Case in point 1979's "Dracula" with Frank Langella.) ![]() |

Crucifixes only work on the strong ones if you have faith. See Jerry Dandrige in Fright Night, at first Peter Vincent's use of the crucifix had no effect.

To become a vampire:
-A baby born with teeth or a caul, or a stillborn -A bat flying over a corpse (Romania) -Being a wizard or witch -Being bitten by a vampire -Being excommunicated by the Greek Orthodox Church (Greece) -Being the seventh son of the seventh son -A cat jumping over a corpse (England) -A dead body that has been reflected in a mirror -It was generally assumed that if a cat was allowed near a corpse it would steal the soul and the dead person would become a vampire. (Vampire cats were common in Japan but were easily recognizable as they had two tails) -People with red hair (Greece) -People who commit suicide -People who die sudden and violent deaths -People who have eaten the meat of a sheep that has been killed by a wolf -People who do not receive a proper burial -A person becomes a revenant when an animal jumps over him (Eastern Europe and China) -Renouncing the Eastern Orthodox religion To destroy a vampire: BEHEADING -This commonly must be done with a gravedigger's shovel. The belief was that the brain was the second seat of life, ergo, if you cut off the vampire's head, you remove its life force. BURNING -This is a common and universal method of disposing of a vampire. BURYING FACE DOWNWARDS -If it was suspected that someone might become a vampire, burying them face downwards was believed to prevent the change occurring. WOODEN STAKE -It was believed that the heart was the first seat of life therefore driving a stake through the heart would destroy that life force. According to some legends, the stake must be a special type of wood--generally ash, hawthorn, maple or aspen--and it must be driven through the heart with one blow. Other ways are: -Cut off and burn the head -Pile stones on the grave -Put poppy seeds on the grave -Boil the head in vinegar -Chain to the grave with wild roses -Place a coin in the mouth and decapitate with an axe -Put a lemon in the mouth -Bury at a crossroads -Remove the heart and cut it in two. Put garlic in the mouth and a nail in the head -Drive a stake through the heart and a nail through the temple -Cut off the toes and drive a nail through the neck -Pour boiling oil on the body and drive a nail through the navel |

I'm beginning to suspect that the two very pale and thin looking man and woman that moved in next door in that vacant old house probably are vampires. Their clothes look old and out dated. Not shabby, but seem worn and not from this era. There is just something about their faces that I can't seem to pin point or articulate very well indescribing the flat, dead, lifeless look in their dark eyes and the gaunt features of their faces. They don't look very healthy I guess you could say.
Its completely dark and quiet over there all day long. Coincidently, (or not) just a short time after it begins to get dark, I can see the lights begin to come on in various windows through the closed shudders. I never see them leave or return from any place during the day, but at night usually after 1 am, I see them both leave together in that dark, older model car with suicide doors on it. Iv'e never been awake to know exactly when they return home, but then the cycle starts all over again. Day after day, night after night. Same routine. I'm getting a very cold and uncomfortable feeling about this. Whats going to happen next? |

![]() Quote:
Is the car very clean, shiny, and black? Most Vampires have massive amounts of money and keep nice clean cars. Is the vampire woman attractive. Most seem t be smokin hot ladies that I wouldn't mind being bitten by ![]() Follow them when they leave they're house one night and see if they lead you to a human blood farm.
