Default konami clears up mgs4 facts, details beta preorder program

Im running not walking to gamestop come april1
Quote:
When word broke that Metal Gear Solid 4 was shipping this summer at the Destination PlayStation retailer conference, official word from Sony was simply "late Q2 2008", but we knew it was actually hitting June 12. Konami makes that date official today, hyping up the Metal Gear Online starter pack and giving solid info on the beta program open to those who pre-order MGS4.

According to the release, the pre-sell program kicks off in April. Those who put down some cash early will walk away with the Metal Gear Saga 2.0 DVD, a disc that should get Metal Gear noobs up to speed with a history-recapping prologue and a collection of trailers for MGS4. A Metal Gear Online beta key will be contained within the pre-order package, so make sure you don't get mugged on the way out of your local GameStop.

For the full details, continue on to the press release.

KONAMI DIGITAL ENTERTAINMENT REVEALS DETAILS FOR METAL GEAR SOLID®4: GUNS OF THE PATRIOTS
EL SEGUNDO, CA - February 28, 2008 - Following opening remarks made during the General Session at the 2008 Destination PlayStation retailer event in Scottsdale AZ, Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. confirmed several new initiatives related to Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, including a North American street date, online multiplayer, and pre-sell program.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is the final chapter in the saga of Solid Snake which sends him around the world in pursuit of his arch nemesis, Liquid Ocelot. Armed with new gadgets and abilities, Solid Snake must shift the tides of war into his favor, using the chaos of the battlefield to infiltrate deep into enemy territory. In his globetrotting final mission, Snake must sneak deep into enemy locations in the Middle East, South America, and other corners of the Earth to foil Liquid Ocelot's plans for total world domination.

Street Date

Opening remarks revealed that the final chapter in the saga of super spy Solid Snake is expected to arrive in stores in North America on Thursday June 12th, 2008. "Blockbuster events and premieres are a tradition of the summer," said Kazumi Kitaue, Konami Digital Entertainment Inc. Chairman and CEO. "We anticipate that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots fits that bill perfectly, and consumers will be waiting in line to get their copy of the game just like it's a hit Hollywood movie."

Metal Gear Online Starter Pack

It was also confirmed today that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will launch with the Metal Gear Online "Starter Pack" supporting online gameplay. In addition to the single player experience, gamers will also be able to take the action online with up to 16 players and battle it out using the latest weapons and stealth techniques.

Pre-Sell Program

Beginning April 2008, consumers that pre-order Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will receive the Metal Gear Saga 2.0 DVD, containing a Prologue that recaps the Metal Gear franchise, a 20th Anniversary retrospective, character bios for Big Boss, Liquid Snake, Solidus Snake, and Solid Snake, plus a collection of international trailers of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. This pre-order package also contains an insert with a download code and special instructions for accessing the Metal Gear Online beta test when it goes live in late April. This special pre-order package will only be available while supplies last.

So the people that want the game the most, meaning the people that have played the previous ones, get the DVD that shows what's happened?

Do they really need it the most?

I want the game bad and I haven't played all the previous ones. Don't assume too much.

And pre-ordering isn't just about the DVD. You also get into the beta (while supplies last). Or at least that's what I read. The beta is something like four weeks in length.

Oh, don't misunderstand me, I want this really bad and I've hardly played any prequel at all, it's just that the casualers that pick this up in August without knowing anything about the series will be left out.

Oh, whatever, screw this, I just realized no other game does this anyway. Go PS3.

Well apparently in game, when it reffers to something that's happened in the prvious games, you can press a button, and it shows you the scene(s) it's reffering too. Although they haven't been rendered again, so if it's reffering to something in the Playstation Game, it's gonna look like boxes

Hopefully somewhere in the hype someone will get the bright idea to get MGS3 to work right on the PS3.

Gotta ask. When you preorder the game April 1st do you get the DVD that day or do you get it when the Game itself comes out. The artical is a little confusing.

I would assume they would give it to you that day.

If not, then what are they gonna do? Mail us the DVD and the MGO Beta-code? The beta-testing ends after April. What's the point of pre-ordering in April if we won't get the DVD and Beta-code by then anyways?

Once April gets here, go place yourself an order and ask them.

"Alright, Kojima says if I pre-order I get this and this, now where is it? GIVE it to me or I'll jump you!"

I know this sounds stupid but if they did give to you that day. There's going to be somebody that goes in and puts 5 or 10 dollars, gets the DVD, 1 week later goes back in and cancels the pre-order, gets his money back, keeps the DVD. So you would think that they put it out with the game but I don't know.

Well, maybe once you pre-order, they won't allow you to cancel the order.

It's kinda like signing a deal with the devil you know.

It's true, Kojima is the devil. I mean, who else eats up 50gig of BD on a game and want more?

At least the 360 fanboys are going nuts over this anyways.
