Please digg this story so Harmonix can see the unfair disparity between their Xbox/PS2 and PS3 offerings!

They know ALL about the USB hub not being put in their PS3 offerring.
This is what I think happened. I think they were basing the PS3 version on the 20, 60, and 80GB models, because the 40GB didn't appear 'til later. When the 40GB PS3s launched, they probably said damn that. We aren't spending anymore money for the smaller install base. It probably won't sell well on the PS3 anyways (lots of bad mouthing from developers and forums before the 40GB launched). Even now, they still won't offer a USB hub with proof of purchase. They probably said it's only a few bucks for a customer to buy his/her own, but it would cost us a hell of a lot more to supply them to a million+ customers. Therefore, we'll just take the heat 'cause the product is a runaway success anyway. They'll stop *****ing soon enough. Those are my thoughts on what happened. |

So paying $170 for a Rock Band Special Edition is fine, but $15 for a 4 port USB hub is too expensive?
![]() I use a self-powered 7-port USB hub that I got for like $20. They're not exactly hard to find. |

I think between the two packages, I'd much rather have the wireless axe than a usb hub... all thing being equal...

it was also to make up for the lack of wireless in the 360 version
A wireless mic for the quality you need to play the game effectively would likely end up being as much if not more than the drums. To give you an example. A Shure SM58 runs approx $100 retail Wireless- Same mic, $400 So if we apply the same cost ratio, it comes out at basically $100 There's no point to making the drums wireless, because you don't move from the seated position while playing them, and adds exponentially to something that's already retailing at $80 |

What do you mean there is no point to making the drums wireless? The point is to remove the cord going across my living room. The drums are basically one big controller, so there really is no extra power requirments.
Not sure about the mic, and quite frankly I do not care that is much smaller, easier to remove and store somewhere.. not like the drums, and I rarley use the mic as I am a straight man. The guitar is still wireless and it is nice, I like the auto shutoff mode it seems to have, but I would still prefer bluetooth.. and keep my USB ports free... I keep all my PS3 components on a table near my couch, and use power from wall to keep them up.. for my mic, keyboard, and PS3 controllers (bought a 4-port PS3 charging base), and I love the fact there are no cords going to or from my PS3 across room, and they are basically always available to use right from my couch. Would love having the same with the drums at least.. and I hate the look of cords across the floor. |

![]() I went to walmart yesterday...found a powered 6 port Hub for $11.99....I'll do that instead of paying more for wireless components. Plus like others have stated, the xbox version got gyped with a wired guitar. |

Cords across the floor. ![]() Just think of it as immersing yourself in the role, dude! ![]() We stash the drums and guitar in a coat closet when not in use (no unsightly mess), and we have the 80gb PS3 so USB ports aren't an issue. Making the drum set wireless would still eat up a ton of battery life because while it is a "big controller", it has additional components inside of it, along with more cabling which requires more juice. Plus, considering that real drummers already complain that there is a bit of a lag with the wired drum set, despite calibration, a Bluetooth model would suffer. I'm pretty confident that Harmonix took this into consideration while designing the game, and it probably wasn't feasible. |
