Default Do You Buy Every Blu-ray Movie?

Ok i will try to make this point again. Theres seems to be alot of ppl who are buying every bluray movie that comes out.

I can't help but think it is stupid as more than a few blurays have bad transfers and are overpriced. If you ask me there is only about 100 bluray discs out at the moment i would go out and buy (i have 60 counted them last night).

I no ppl have diffrent movie tastes but i still feel sorry for ppl that have over 100 blurays at this point in time. Bluray is the best format ever but why buy shi* movies just because there HD.

Any one agree

I only buy BD's that I'll probably watch over and over again. But my OCD nature sometimes pushes me to buy some real classics, like AVP.

I agree to the extent that there are only a couple dozen blu ray movies that interest me right now... For some people it is a hobby to collect blu ray movies. Good or not they will buy it. For the people who have over 100+ blu rays more power to ya!

Many of us acquired large Blu-ray collections because of BOGOs and such. So, we weren't paying any more for a Blu-ray title than we've paid--and sometimes less--for a regular DVD.

And, as you can tell from many threads in this forum, an individual movie several people love, just as many people hate. So, when some of us blind buy titles, we're hoping we got something we'll enjoy.

So, don't hate me for having a large(r) Blu-ray collection. There are plenty of titles that I won't buy that have been available, and been on sale, several times. But that's just my taste. Your taste may certainly vary.

Just so we're clear - you're saying AVP is a classic?

I just wanted to make sure it wasn't sarcasm or something.

I don't begrudge anyone their movie tastes. I like a lot of shitty movies, and someone liking AVP doesn't bother me at all. But I've never heard it called a "classic." When I think classic, I think 2001, Lawrence of Arabia, Citizen Kane, etc. Not a scifi/action movie from 2004 that had very little in the way of plot.

What are you talking about? Didn't you see the chemistry between the main actress and the predator? Didn't you feel their love for each other? Didn't you know AVP was a love story?

Eh, I really only buy movies that are worth it in HD for me, movies for the kids, or something I REALLY like.

I love View Askew...but I doubt I'll be getting the blu rays...I have all the extended version DVDS, just don't need it in HD.

However, all the Harry Potters, POTC, etc...action and special effects equals impulse buying for me.

I actually only have bought newer release movies on blu-ray. I will not replace any of my older movies, It's just to expensive. The new movies I buy are from the the list of movies previewed right here on this site. I always choose the ones with the best pq/aq. That's just my opinion!

To an extent I agree...I only want high quality movies in my library. And that includes both picture, audio, and the movie itself.

So far I think I've gotten really good titles.

It sucks though when theres an awesome movie you want but it doesn't seem to have everything you want in it.

Like King Arthur for example. The Bluray version is the Director's Cut which normally I don't really care about. Hwoever it appears that the director took out a really funny scene that I enjoyed on the DVD version/in theater.

To me that severely decreases the value of hte movie and the amount of enjoyment I'll get from it. The movie doesn't seem whole to me.

In short I feel like I'm gonna be spending a lot of money building up my library right now (what with past releases and current new titles) but I will only spend my money on movies that are truly worth it.

I think the people who have over 300 might amaze me. But I dont blame people for getting a title cheap in a BOGO that they wouldnt normally bother with.

If I have seen a movie and it is truly awful I will not buy it, or if I am just not interested I won't. But most blu rays that come out I will buy, I would say about 80% of them.
