Slowly but surely. I think people are being unrealistic to think that BDs should be $15 right along with their Day and Date DVD counterparts

I doubt they will come down. demand will continue to be strong in the upper twenty dollar range. if demand is strong, why sell for less? people will buy them because they HAVE to have them. its just that good.

The BD-UP5000 has a number of issues reported by owners, and I would recommend you purchase a stand-alone Blu-ray player to complement your A2. Which player depends upon which features you value, your other gear and, of course, what you're willing to pay.

Edit: I see you've already asked the gear question in another thread.

The price of the movies will slowly come down in time, just as they did for DVD and VHS before that. If you look at the MSRP of the blu-rays v. DVD you will see a small price increase for the blu-ray.

For example we will use I am Legend:
DVD single disc 28.98
DVD 2 disc SE 34.99
Blu-ray 35.99

The blu-ray is 24.99 on amazon

The real question is when will cost come down to allow the HDM to have a lower MSRP and when will retailer discount new releases on blu-ray as they do on DVD. Keep in mind a lot of the big chain store sell new release for a loss on DVD to drive traffic in their stores and to show themselves as a pricing leader

Almost getting as annoying as "When is Transformers/Lord of the Rings/The Matrix/Star Wars coming to Blu-ray?" Almost.

We should just start a sticky thread called WHEN IS X COMING TO BD?
answer: some day, during some month, at some year. Thank you.

I might be one of the few that doesn't mind paying the higher prices vs DVD. It's kind of like if you buy a Porsche and then all of sudden everyone in your neighborhood decides to buy a Porsche as well. I like the feeling that I'm setting myself apart from those clueless DVD buyers.

Eventually the prices will go down but till then I enjoy getting heckled by friends who think I'm crazy for spending that kind of money on a format that supposedly looks no different then DVD.
