Question Computer and TV

Hi,
I have a Samsung LE37M87BDX LCD TV and wanted to link my Sony Vaio AR51M laptop to it to utilise the laptop's inbuilt Blu-ray player but have run into a bit of a problem.

The laptop plays blu-ray discs really well on it's 1080p screen using bundled software (Intervideo WinDVD BD) however when the laptop is connected to the TV with an HDMI cable I get the following message;

STOP
Your display environment does not support protected content playback.

Where do I start to try and rectify this so that I can play Blu-rays on my laptop but view them on my TV?

Thanks.

when i updated my powerdvd bd edition for my desktop, there was an issue with hdcp. that could be yours too. i know my monitor was compliant and it worked before very well, so i unplugged the dvi cable from at each end til i heard the computer make a noise and reconnected one at a time. at it worked. could try that but other than that im not sure

I think your laptop has an option to sho the video on your laptop and through the hdmi output at the same time and it also has the option only show the video through the output and not your laptop monitor. That might be your problem.

Thanks very much for your suggestions and apologies for my delay in replying but I have only just had a chance to hook up my laptop to the TV.
It was the fact that I needed to switch off the laptop display.
I can now watch my only Blu Ray film on my TV.

Thanks again.
