Default Klipsch Opinion

Hi,

I've been reading this forum since last october when i bought my TV but i didn't have an account. I currently work in an electronic shop and a VERY good price on 2 product : Klipsch Quintet III and Klipsch KSW-12. I paid 169.99$ for the quintet and 149.99 for the subwoofer.

First of all , i'd like to know people's opinion on those 2 products. I think i might use em instead of selling it. Give me your opinion people! :O)

PS : Also , i havn't bought a receiver yet. Feel free to leave suggestions , im looking to spend TOP 500$. And i live in canada.

Thanks , David!

I don't have any direct experience with the speakers you mentioned. However, professionals give your speakers pretty good ratings.

The best receiver for under $500 is Onkyo 605. Read the review:

Smile ok

the quintet klipsch series are very good for the price and the size of the speakers. i have purchased the synergy series' 7.1 set up all in the 3 sizes along with the ksw 12 a couple of years ago. then i found out that klipsch had just released a new sub along side the synergy series called the sub-12. after purchasing that one, along side the ksw 12, i coudln't even hear the ksw 12. i was fortunate enough to be able to return the ksw series and only pay like 150 dollars more the replacement of it for the sub-12. i have beaten the hell out of my speakers and unbelievable volumes for years and have had no problems on all of my receivers. i used to purchase yamaha for a while, but as you can see in your other posts to the questions you have, ONKYO is the leader in flagship receivers at the time. i highly and i say again, HIGHLY recommend the onkyo tx-nr905. i bought it the day it was available and this thing will do anything and everything. it is up there with the more expensive models but i will guarantee that you will not buy another receiver for years, especially since this one offers firmware updates via ethernet. like i always say, spend a little more now and you won't have to spend any more for quite some time. take care......

Klipsch and Denon run very well together. I've got 10-year old or so Klipsch Legend series speakers all around (7 of 'em) for my home theater (connected to a Denon 3808) and I have absolutely no desire to upgrade. I plan on keeping these babies for a long time. I'm a big fan of their stuff.

I had these for a week, but returned them. Only reason I returned them is cuz i want something that i can put on the ground and not drill and cut my walls. When i turned it up and watched Casino Royal in DTS HD they sounded awesome, I heard sounds that i was not aware speakers could make. I've heard people say that because of the horn tweeter on all Kilpsch speakers you either love them or hate them, I think i love them. Keep them dude.

Here are my opinions.

I got a my first HT system and used Klipsch speaks.

I had a front stage of Synergy series SF1s, an SC1 and a KSW10. They KSW 10 conked out after about a year (bad amp) but was fixed under warranty. I purchased these in October 1999 (along with my first DVD player) and these units have otherwise worked flawlessly since.

I have since replaced these units in my main HT setup with speakers by Elemental Designs (check them out -- they are obscenely good speaks for the money). But the Klipsch are still pulling duty down in my man cave.

Sound wise -- these are solid. But not great. But solid for the money.

Klipsch Reference series are a whole nother matter -- much higher quality (and more expensive) speakers.

I just upgraded my subwoofer from a KSW-10 to an SVS 20-39PC+. The Klipsch was great and I had it for nearly 7 years but I wanted deeper and louder bass. The SVS I have now kills it in every aspect, but it costed a fair amount more. The Klipsch is a good sub, a great one for that price but the SVS is in another league. However, the SVS would be ridiculous overkill with that quintet system. If you plan to keep the quintet system, then the KSW-12 will fit very nicely.

considering the price point you paid for those speakers, you are off to a good start.

these are great for a beginners HT, depending on the room size. down the road you would probably end up spending more for higher end speakers, or step up to the reference series klipsch has.

considering that you are planning to get a receiver under $500 id suggest to try to get a good quality reciever.

my pov is simple-
invest.
my first priority is the speakers,
then gear,
source material,
then acoustic treatments.
