Smile Was "August Rush" any good and is it worth buying?

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone here can tell me if August Rush was any good? If so, does anyone know how the picture and sound quality is. I'm trying to find a good family movie that I don't already own and I thought this would be a good choice. Thanks

I don't have the blu-ray just yet, but I will be picking this title up soon this week.

I watched the movie in theaters when it came out and I enjoyed it tremendously. It's a family film, but it is also a love story at its core. Plus, it has a wonderful soundtrack. May not be for everyone, but I did immensely enjoy the film.

I saw it in theaters, and I was not a fan of this film. It really had a lot of flaws in it's plot. If you really want to turn off your brain and ignore all of it's flaws and impossibilities, then you might enjoy it.

I wanted this movie not based by its popularity, but based on the actor. I am a fan of robin williams, jonathan rhys meyer, and freddie highmore. I am planning on importing from US since no release date announced for UK for BD

Saw it with my GF, she LOVED it.

Myself, I felt it was way too sappy, and very unrealistic, but to each his own I guess...

I saw the preview, and it seem pretty good. Also got pretty good critic reviews. I will pick it up once I can get it for under 20 dollars shipped from blu-rayboxsets.com. I'm no longer paying over 20 dollars for a blu-ray. lol...

more of a chick flick really but im sure theres plenty of guys who like this movie but i think it was more directed to the women side but none the less a good movie but not a great movie that will get an academy award. maybe a rental purchase would be nice for this movie

I think this is a great family film. I really enjoyed the DVD version. My only concern is that I don't see much replay value in this type of film, for that reason I would recommend a rental over a purchase.

it's a great family movie, and as far as it being a chick flick I don't think so if you're a father.

We bought it and already watched it again, I really liked it and it's a good soundtrack as well.

As for the plot being unbelieveable.....yea, Transformers/Batman/Matrix and all those are pretty realistic aren't they? LOL

Rarely is there a movie made that is believeable anymore.

bought August Rush today on BD and PQ was pretty good, colors are pretty solid with no edge enhancement.

I got it since I love Mark Mancina's score which got destroyed on the soundtrack. But I'll have to wait until tomorrow night to see the movie. Ghost Hunters was on tonight so I have to watch that instead.

Yeah, my gf insists that I watch this movie, I'm a little skeptical though.
