I at least hope DeNiro was paid well for that movie. Because yikes! Oof! That movie looks rough!

I'll never understand these Hollywood types. He has an estimated net worth of $500 million. Ffs, go enjoy the years you have left.

I understand they probably like to keep working. But he just recently had another kid at his age. But at least pick decent enough movies. 10 years ago this sorta movie would have gone direct to dvd.

If that guy is the hottest comic in America. Comedy truly is.dead. it's a bit odd they have 2 movies releasing the same day starring 2 Comedians. That Burt guys gimmick is he's out of shape. So he takes off his shirt to tell jokes.

Guess they have to pay for all the yachts and private jets they own. Or something like an insane car collection!

I just saw that The Little Mermaid is tracking for a 200-205 million opening worldwide.

That would not be good.

He doesn't. That's way off. Don't believe Google searches. He's also gone through multiple divorces and his alimony and child support payments are massive. There was a reason he was doing paycheck gigs for a long time. His monthly nut that he has to pay out is huge. Enough to make you choke if you saw the number.

I figured even if it was 1/5 of what they said that's still enormously wealthy.

I just saw The Little Mermaid and of course the thread is closed, but overall I thought it was meh but not as awful as previous remakes, I just don't care for these. I thought it followed the animated film pretty closely with some changes here and there, but the execution is just not as good as the original. They didn't really add anything new, but they rather extended things that were already there in the original.

The better parts for me were with Ariel and Eric on land, everything under the sea just feels bleak and uninspired and boring so it was a nice change to have light and an actual location (rather than ugly CGI everywhere).

The weakest parts for me were Triton and Ursula. In the original film Ursula had much more nuance to her mannerism and humor. In the remake McCrathy just shouts loudly all the time, and Triton doesn't feel menacing when he should be.

Awkwafina is not as annoying as I thought she would be, and both scuttle and Sebastian got a lot of laughs from the audience.

And I'm sorry to tell all the people who think everyone is going to hate it, but it seems that people really loved it and they even applauded several times.

Will I watch it again? I might watch it one more time but that's it for me. In the end I think it's just like the other remakes - uninspired and unnecessary.

A movie called "You Hurt My Feelings" will also be getting a wide release.

So it's Little Mermaid vs. 4 streaming movies.

I wish Sony Classics would've gave Carmen a wider release.

Look, Carmen is a really great movie, but it's also too abstract to really do well with most mainstream moviegoers (people who don't already frequent arthouses). I assume SPC went as wide as it was possible.

Hopefully it will have a new life on streaming.

And the 4 other wide releases this weekend that nobody has ever heard of will do well with most mainstream moviegoers?

Don't worry. Lionsgate has The Blackening and Joy Ride. They'll redeem themselves soon enough.
