Default If the rumor is true...

So if the rumor of Microsoft making a new Xbox is true, it will be a piece of $#!T. Like come on no blu-ray drive, how stupid can you get? And they want you to download games and movies. And not even 1080p It will probably be a giant hard drive that only holds 100gb and you fill it up with two movies. Also I'd be pissed if I was a owner of a 360 because if i just got a 360 or bought one at launch it would be replaced and no new games or features would come out on it. And they expect you to buy a new console when I can get a PS3 with good games that will last for about 10 years. It will also probably be rushed and have the new Red Rings Of Death which while delete all your movies, games and take all the money you have in your online account. What about the developers??, they would have to be angry because the games they released on the 360 would be no good, the new games might have to be downloaded, limited space on a dvd/online download service, and having to get new programs to develop for the new xbox Or will developers just jump to the PS3 where there will be lots of room on the blu-ray disc and no worries of a new console anytime soon. I think I covered all my points, so one word of advice to Microsoft"GET OUT OF THE MARKET YOU GREEDY LITTLE BA$TARDS!"

Not surprised as they also think digital downloads will make blu ray obselete in 12 - 18 months. I think the money has gone to their heads.

So which is it? A giant hard drive or one that is only 100gb? Unless you are saying the hard drive will be the size of a microwave.

I liked the original Xbox as it really expanded on the console industry but after seeing how quick MS was to drop support for it when they announced the 360 I stepped back a bit. The PS3 was definitely the better bargain and most futureproof in terms of lifecycles. I'll see what they do with the next generation but if the rumors are true (which they rarely are) I doubt I'll jump for their next system and no way am I going for an all digital download gaming platform. I pretty much only rent games now and that system doesn't exactly reach out to those customers.

just because it will not have a blu ray drive, does not mean that it will be a bad console. Also i think they will have learnt from their past mistakes on the whole rrod point you raised. I rmemeber the playstation both one and 2 have design flaws with their lasers, i remember i had to turn my playstations upside down for them to be able to read the discs.

Wheather we blu fans like it or not downloadable content will become more popular as time progresses, i do not think it will be a competitior to blu for a long time though, and do you really want the xbox to have a blu ray drive? If they don't put a blu ray drive in their it just means more people wiil choose the playstation over the xbox as they convert into the hd arena

Something I didn't mention in the last thread about this, but figured I'd mention it here.

I really don't see MS releasing this in fall 09 because if it is, they will have to be showing it at E3 this year.

And with the number of big titles they have planned for this holiday like Gears 2 and Fable 2 (and I'm sure there are some others), it would be stupid to announce a new system and completely destroy the press for those games. No one will be talking about those games at E3 if MS annonces a new system there. And if they don't announce it there, they don't really have enough time to hype up a new system.

More likely we'll see a new system from them in fall 2010, but either way, I don't it will be worth it.

Yes, a hard drive the size of a microwave that holds only 100gbs.

The XBox 720 or whatever the hell they want to call it is starting to sound like a really cheaply made computer with a massive hard drive for digital downloads. It'll probably blow for games (and movies of course). I'm almost glad this is happening honestly. The reason being is this WILL FAIL MISERABLY and accelerate Microsoft's exit from the video game/HD movie business.

I think this rumor is Vaporware for the most part spread by Microsoft itself. What Microsoft wants to do is prevent as many Xbots as possible from dumping the Xbox 360 for the PS3, which looks to have a much stronger future. They are desperate to hold on to their current fanbase who consist mostly of hardcore first person shooter fans who like to be on the bleeding edge of technology. This is a P.R. move attempting to stop those people from going PS3. No doubt they are planning their next console but I don't believe it would come by 2009.

MS want Digital Download for Games reallly badly. When they released the 360 they were pretty clear than the next gen of console will be download only.

This way MS control the price, when they are rebate and will kill the 'Off Market' as NOBODY will be able to sell their game used...

What is with all the hate. The 360 is a fantastic system. It is a fun console with many great xbox live games.

Blu-ray rocks and I love watching blu-ray movies but I don't think that means I have to love everything sony makes and discard anything that had anything to do with HD-DVD.

I am by no means a fan boy, I owned both playstation 1 and 2 and as soon as final fantasy comes out for ps3 I will probably by one of those also. I just don't see why everyone is so down on any sort of competition. You know it is what keeps prices down and quality up. Sony would have been content letting us have the playstation 2 for a few more years, they are actualy making a profit on that system. Don't be so quick to call for the demise of other systems they drive development and are responsible for us all getting better products at better prices.

We don't neccesarily hate the 360, but we hate MS for trying to push Digital Downloads onto us as if its a last resort. They make no money from manufacturing, but they do make money from distributing digitally. Which is why they want downloads. Then all the money goes straight into their pockets. If only they'd use this money to rid the 360 of RROD.

I guess we can give Microsoft that but then Bill Gates got a very bad case of greed.
