Question Would Studios redo movies with questionable initial Bluray Transfer?

We know they are quite a few movies that were lacking in the PQ deparment on Blu-ray. We are talking about movies that are considered very good movies or must haves. What i am asking is would some of these studios go back to the Drawing Board a second time? I have held off on quite a few Bluray movies because the initial transfer didn't blow it's DVD counterpart away. I figure if we are going to pay the Bluray price we should be getting nothing but the BEST! thoughts...

Sony redid The Fifth Element because the initial release was garbage.

Well yes, but The Fifth Element was a single voice in the wilderness, not a trend setter.

And it still didn't have any of the meaningful DVD extras.

My list of Blu-rays I would rebuy instantly if they were remastered and properly supplemented is larger than the list of those I own -- including most of the Fox back catalogue, and Warner's lossy audio releases, not to mention those lovely MPEG-2 encoded BD-25s. Oh, how I love them. Or not.

So, yes, this is still a burning issue for the format!

They will have to put in a lot of work because of the shape of the master copies.

If your name means what I think it means...well I am embarassed for you.

They re-release and re-do DVD's all the time, I can't imagine them not doing the same thing for Blu-Ray.

Eventually they will prolly re-release all these titles again, but some will take many years, while others might come out fairly soon.

On the sticker across the top of the 5th Element there should be the letters RE before the title. I think that is the only identifying feature on the package of the remaster.

I had the feeling that Warner thought that slapping the regular DVD version directly onto Blu' would be acceptable. It aint! Bullitt sucked so bad I gave mine away and I love that movie! Their recent releases are great but they really need to go back and re-do a few. I'm hoping Twister looks a lot better than the SD.

Paidgeek actually mentioned they were putting A LOT of work into redoing Ghostbusters for BD, so I think it will be something special.

I think the better question is would they re-release a film that didn't initially have HD audio.

IMHO the below titles needs to be redone.

1) T2 - Nirvana Edition
2) Batman Begins
3) V for Vendetta
4) Matrix Reloaded
5) Matrix Revolutions
6) 70% of Universal catalog titles
7) Paramount titles with no lossless audio
8) Pan's Labyrinth - without DNR

The UK Optimum release of Pans Labyrinth doesn't use the DNR. According to somebody I know at dvdtimes.co.uk the region B Pan's Labyrinth is the best verson of the film anywhere in the world, inspite of all the bells and whistles on the New Line HD DVD release. Though I'm not sure if it's region free.

I have the U.K Blu-ray and it's region free. The bonus features seems to be encoded in PAL or at some resolution like 576i/p and doesn't play in NTSC only BD players.

Posting the bit rate clippings for fun
