Descriptions: Move from Iowa to New York. Get a place, a job, a girl. Maybe it all can hilariously fall into place when you've got pals who stand arm-in-arm-in-arm-in-arm-in-arm with you! Joe's Apartment, written and directed by John Payson (who expanded his acclaimed MTV short into feature length), is the place for fun when Joe (Jerry O'Connell) discovers he shares it with some prior tenants: 50,000 singing, dancing, wisecracking cockroaches! What bugs Joe is how these cockamamie cucarachas meddle with his romance with lovely Lily (Megan Ward). But he'll eye the world of creepy-crawlies differently when the tiny bugsters turn from hindering to helping – like it or not!

I'm surprised by the lack of any special features related to the movie itself, instead WB just shoving classic cartoons randomly onto their releases as of late. I remember the marketing for this was a big deal since it was MTV's first movie and had a lot of CGI.

This has been a huge want for me. Saw this in the theater as a kid and it has nostalgia. It has mid 90s written all over it. Never would've thought it'd get a new 4k scan. Kudos, WB.

Whether it Aired once or all the time I can't say, by my memories for whatever reasons seem to recall the original 1992 short playing all the time on MTV. I was 10 when the short premiered which likely is why it's been burned into my memories the way it has.

Wow, I'd forgotten about the short. But I remember the movie being promoted a lot at the time. A friend and I were too young to drive and so we jogged several miles on a blazing hot summer afternoon to watch it at a mall with a movie theater. Haven't seen the movie in ages and the short since the 90s.

This sentence made me miss the 90s even more than I usually do, especially considering the movie was "Joe's Apartment." lol

I never saw this(at 14 this wouldn't have appealed to me), but I remember Siskel and Ebert trashing this, and naming it one of the worst movies of 1996.

That was the charm of life before internet addiction. We could be entertained by something as mundane as dribbling the soccer ball around the yard for a couple hours or just running around the woods back then. Times have changed so much. I don't think I ever would have left the house except to go to school if I were that age today. But regarding Joe's Apartment, this kind of movie was right up my alley and probably one of the last memories I have of MTV being a part of my childhood other than perhaps Jackass. I'm surprised Warner went the extra mile to give this a 4k scan since it bombed and I haven't really pictured it as being a movie with any real cult status. Hopefully it's a new trend and more films from this era will get nice releases or blus at all.
