Default Can HD Glasses Replace Our HD TVs?

You see them used for Video games and the like, but where is this technology for the general public? Can they develope HD glasses and could they ever replace the need for HD TVs in the future?

OLED headsets pretty much, very awesome. Need stereo drivers to be working to really utilize though.

It's possibly, but I think it's less likly with the home theatre since it's still kinda sorta a social thing.

I wish the headset technology would have really took off. Playing first person shooters on HD headsets would be quite an immersive experience. In an alternate universe where the VR headsets really took off, the whole family would be watching Blu-rays on their own individual HD headsets.

Wouldn't that be a rather lonely way of watching movies? I don't know about you, but I like to see the reaction of others.

The problem with the VR sets that I've seen/used are that they kept them at a low resolution, usually 640x480. Sure it similates a 60" tv, but it also simulates you sitting 2 feet away from it, so you see the entire pixel structure and horizontal lines which makes the picture look god awful. If they could get them to a true 1080p pixel structure they would be awesome especially for travel, or even a replacement for computer monitors.

I don't see them as a replacement for HD TV's. It would seem burdensome to wear a pair of glasses to watch a movie. I could see using them for playing games for sure, but movies...

Intresting, I don't think they are going to replace my 1080p LCD any time soon. But perhaps they are a way out for some who have a significant other who is against a big screen upsetting the decore.

How would watching movies with them be any more burdensome than playing games with them?

What I'm actually talking about though are lightweight "HD", glasses with 180 degree periphial vision that has not been invented yet for public sales and distribution. Think 10 years down the road. Interested?

Absolutely! And I think that the people here against them are either confused, or don't like change. Hence the "HD Downloads should die" Movement

the thing is that with video games you don't really pay attention to anything outside of what your playing because your so focused and generally by yourself. With movie watching, a lot of people do it with friends and most like to talk to friends during the movie about the movie or other things. These glasses would get rid of that interaction.

Not interested. There is the social interaction thing with a HT. Even when I'm alone I like to be aware of other things going on in the room or elsewhere (things cooking on the stove, what your puppy is chewing now, someone coming to the door, etc)

If you want a headache then it's perfect.
I don't know about you but focusing the eyes an inch infront of your head for a couple of hours instead of 10-50 feet is not something I want to do.

I think you guys should try it some time
