how do I play MKV 720p video files in Playstation3?

I tried to search here, but it won't let me search using "MKV"
because it's too short...

Use the program MKV2VOB (google it). You can adjust the settings for .mp4. Some will convert real quick with no quality loss and some may take awhile to transcode. The file will not play 'as is' on the PS3.
