Default PS3 Sales Surpass the X Box 360 & the Wii in America

For the week ended Feb 23, 2008 (American Sales) PS3 94,106, Wii 78,975, and the X Box 360 87,569. (Total Sales):PS3 177,387, Wii 230,921, and the X Box 360 134,284. I am sure that there are some that will believe that VG Chartz is NOT the most reliable to source. I welcome any other links to further discuss the issue.

Well, the PS3 is finally getting the respect it deserves. So much for fads and a conglomerate of shooters. lol

There were rumors of upcoming shortages for the 360, but those never materialized. The PS3 is rising, and it will be the dominant system by year's end. I remember in October the PS3was selling around 30K a week, and those sales have tripled. Blu-ray victory will only help PS3 sales and vice versa. The Wii is a fad that will soon fade away.

Its a shame the games are struggling to sell..

Look at Uncharted, still hasnt hit 500k, ratchet is barely above 400k.

Heavenly sword is barely above 300k.

Need to get some damn games.

hopefully army of two will help out.

I can't wait to see it go away, seriously.

I'm sure that those sales are boosted by the fact that the PS3 is far and away the best Blu-ray player for your money at this point in time, and is the only one in the sub $1000 price range that is guaranteed to have BD-Live capability at some point. If you want a Blu-ray player right now, then you buy a PS3. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I bought my PS3 solely for it's BD capabilities and the ability to act as a media hub so I can watch HD downloads on my 46" Sammy. I have one game that I played maybe twice. The rest of my games are all on the Xbox 360. While the PS3 excels for BD and multimedia, it falls flat for gaming. Just look at those pathetic game sales for proof of that.

Lack of game sales doesn't mean the game suck, it just means people don't buy them.
For the most part, I say they're missing out.

Anyone who's been following along with the PS brand since PS1 and PS2 days would agree with me that PS3 is also a great gaming console as well. Truly it is.

People not buying games does NOT mean the game suck. Or the system suck for that matter.

Example, if someone don't buy Lord of the Ring, does that mean the movie suck? No.

Microsoft can say all they want about shortages. I went to three best buys in my area and they had one PS3. Talk about a shortage. Where are these things?

I never said anything about the sames sucking at all, you missed my point. I was saying that the PS3 falls flat as a gaming console. Nobody is buying the games! That could be for any number of reasons, but I think the most obvious reason out there is that people are not buying the PS3 for its gaming abilities! Just look at some of the commercials for the PS3. Sony isn't even marketing the damn thing as a gaming console, they're marketing it as a Blu-ray player. Check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrpfxvQKp_M holy crap that commercial didn't show jack squat about the games! Sony is marketing this as a Blu-ray player, and that is how it is selling.

Well, now that the format war is over, they better start promoting the PS3 more as a gaming console. I mean, with big hits coming out this year, it should stop falling flat. There are a ton of exclusive games coming to PS3 this year. Although it is selling as a Blu-ray player for now, but I think it'll grow as a gaming console as well from here on out.

And sorry for missing your point.

um acctually if you look at the devil may cry ps3 vs the shitbox you WILL see the ps3 outsold it. also, their are more shit box 360 games out there and with the year and a half lead, your right the shitbox will have higher numbers, but the PS3 is coming in and you better believe it!!!

there is no doubt that nintendo is suffering from the shortages issue, however, I wonder what MS will say about the 360 not selling as well as it used to be.

the wii fad will start getting tiring fast and the 360 has their own problems. so ps3 sales will keep increasing.

You're probably right, since the 360 did get a head start on game sales, it would make sense at this point for PS3 game sales to be behind. Plus people like me who bought the PS3 just for Blu-ray may find themselves picking up some of the best PS3 exclusive titles, I mean might as well since we own the console and Blu-ray winning the war is a nice bonus. I think once the dual-shock controller comes out in the US next month things may pick up more too.
