Default Trouble with playing Blu-ray

Hello this is first post. I am having troubles with my Blu-ray drive. I got the computer about a month ago and it worked great and now all of a sudden it wont recognize the bluray. It will play the HDDVD and dvds just fine and burn dvds just fine but when I stick in a Bluray it just sets there and thinks about it for a while then nothing. If I go the drive on explorer its like there isnt a disc in the drive. I have cyberlink 7.3 my computer is Phenom quad core with 3gb memory terabyte hard drive, I have duel monitors set up one with my analog monitor and the 2nd is my HDTV with HDMI setup on the computer. I have the HD 2400 video card. I just don't know what to do. if any one has ideas or help that would be great

Thanks.

Yes. Cyberlink recommends PowerDVD Ultra for blu-ray. There is no indication at all that the other versions would work with blu-ray. Unfortunately, there is no demo version for Ultra. Cyberlink Advisor could be a good way to verify the compatibility of your system with blu-ray.

well its just weird that it worked great there for a while and then all of a sudden nothing. Which stinks. Is there anyother programs out there? It looks like the Spiderman Bluray disc comes with cyberlink. Any news on Media Player when they will be making a blu-ray player?

Disable the second monitor. That's probably what's causing the problem

Is it a number of BDs that have worked previously have stopped working or is it a single disk. Just thinking whether there could be a problem with the disk.

Can you remember doing any changes to the system since it has worked previously. Did you have the two monitor configuration from the start or is that new.

I had it set up with 2 monitors from the start but one day it just changed things on me. The task bar moved from my main monitor to the 2nd one so I had to disable the 2nd monitor to get to change back to the 1st one and then I reset the 2nd monitor. That may have been where it changed. The odd thing is the HD DVD and regular DVDs work just fine. Only the Blu-Ray. and it doesn't matter which movie I put in all 3 are the same. Its the Spiderman Trilogy. But thanks for the trouble shooting. I will try disabling my 2nd monitor and restart and see if it works then. I also had a trouble with my Lego Star Wars game all of a sudden and I think that its 2nd monitor thing. Either that or one of these Glorious Vista things that we have to put up with.

Thanks for the help

Okay. Have you tried restoring the system to a previous date that you know has worked. This is a great feature and has avoided lot of headaches for me. But this is not a universal solution as in some cases it fails.

Alternatively you may try to uninstall and then reinstall display drivers and the player. (You should do this at your own risk as there is a possibility for lot of things to go wrong when you do this.)

My bet is that something updated on you without your knowing... It has certainly happenned to me in the past. As mentioned earlier, look for a restore point prior to your problem and see if that fixes it.

Well I cant restore I don't have that setup. I was wondering if it updated without me knowing. I am thinking its a VISTA problem. Im beginning to hate VISTA. I have tried downloading trial versions from every company that has Bluray and HDDVD software. And it still won't work. It won't even recognize the disc. I wonder if its a driver problem? I'm getting tired of this. Wheres my XP lol. Or OSX. Thanks for the suggestions.

Well nothing seems to work I guess I will have to system restore to store fresh and go from there. Or just give up on playing blu-ray and hddvd on my computer that has a bluray hddvd drive. What a waste of money and a crock that they will release a product that they know won't work.

If a fresh copy of OS is installed and all other drivers and software are loaded, it should work in theory.

I hate to do this but can be considered as the last resort. If you have not done this before, it could be risky, although (in general) it is a straight forward process.

Before you reinstall the whole thing... you might just want to try uninstalling and re-installing your video card drivers. Or maybe just PowerDVD...
