Default Audio setup for PS3 and Samsung-HT-Q45

I use this as my sound system with my PS3, currently connected via optical cable.

http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-HT-Q45.../ref=de_a_smtd

2 questions.

1. Does this DTS-HD-MA affect me in the slightest, or is it something that helps people with a higher tier of audio?

2. What's the best setup I should be using with my audio settings?

3. How should I setup to upscale CDs?

Thanks in advance.

1. No it doesn't. Since your audio is connected via optical, you won't be able to get DTS-HD MA at all. You would have to have an HDMI-capable receiver with PCM decoding in order to do that.

2. Your best setup would be to set audio to "Bitstream".

EDIT: Make sure you have all of the proper codecs your receiver can handle selected (i.e. DTS, Dolby Digital). But don't select something your receiver can't handle, or it might cause damage to your speakers. Check the logos on your receiver to see which codecs it can handle.

3. By CD's I'm assuming you mean DVD's, you have to be connected with HDMI to the TV. Just check your settings to make sure the proper resolution is enabled on your PS3 (i.e. 1080i or 1080p depending on your TV). The PS3 will do the rest.

Thanks, and I meant CDs, I heard that some firmware enabled some sort of upscaling for CDs.
