Default Ps3 & Dts-hd Petition

Hello all PS3 owners

I wish to start a petition to Sony. I don’t know how to add polls or other such features in a thread. So if anyone can add a poll or let me know how to add a poll I will do so. I don’t think this even if signed by everyone in the forum can or will make a difference but I just feel Sony should be aware of the frustration that PS3 owners feel

What’s with no DTS-HD BITSTREAM/INTERNAL DECODING?

Why has Sony not given a definite answer on will it or wont it? Will it Bitstream or will Internal Decoding be possible? I am so sick and tired of the "rumors" speculations and SONY's complete lack of information on the subject.

Is it possible that SONY CORP. just doesn’t give a S#!t? Since we are all aware that Sony and its affiliate studios only use DOLBY TRUE HD OR UNCOMPRESSED PCM. Since we are all owners of this "so-called" HDMI spec 1.3 BLURAY player knows as a PS3. I know when I went and bought this unit @1000$CAD almost after taxes I thought I was buying this next gen player that would do it all ( I am very aware of all the features and updates including the Updated PROFILE SPEC VERSION and the possibility of it becoming or already is Final spec "profile") including EVERY HIGH DEF AUDIO FORMAT but I guess I was wrong. I have even bought a 2000 dollar ONKYO A/V receiver with 1.3HDMI that decodes all audio formats. Still I can’t have it all.

I know I may sound like I am *****ing but I know I am not the only one. With major studios like FOX releasing damn near everything in DTS-HD (HR/MA) I am stuck with this old ass standard audio DTS "core track" and it really ticks me off. I WANT HIGH DEF AUDIO FOR EVERY BLURAY. I as many others don’t want to go and spend another 450-600 dollars on a new Stand Alone player just to get DTS-HD audio.

So fine if the PS3 can’t do Bitstream or Decode it JUST TELL US ALREADY ! NO MORE ITS POSSIBLE OR A SONY "LEAKED" RUMOR OR WE ARE WORKING/ TRYING TO DO IT. I don’t think they are being fair to owners and people who may purchase a PS3. just tell us simple YES OR NO end of story. No more speculations and rumors and Sony BS! Give it to the public straight.

So Sony doesn’t use it in their movies so they just don’t care?

The PS3 can do it?

Is it really possible to do it in the future?

Or they just BS'n the public to keep more potential sales available and to keep current owners as "owners" I know I will sell the PS3 if they finally say it can’t do it. I am sure there is a high percentage of owners who feel the same as I do. But Sony is Sony. I have always hated Sony but the PS3 was supposed to do it all. Profile 1.1, 2.0 I don’t give a S#!T as I am sure most people don’t. Extra features woopty S#!T. I want HIGHDEF audio as I am sure a far higher percentage of owners would prefer the HIGH DEF AUDIO being complete whether it Bitstreams or deodes it internally.

So I welcome all user opinions and "facts" that can be added to this post. ( please no "I heard/read somewhere" rumors unless links can be provided from a legitimate source) Thanks to all users for any input and for taking the time to digitally sign this petition. All SONY CORP Email addresses that users can add would also be appreciated as this forum link will be sent to all Emails provided. (If and when it becomes a very large petition) THANK YOU EVERYONE.

I'd expect it with the June/July firmware update (including Profile 2.0)

Sony is releasing players with DTS HD-MA decoding/bitstreaming capability this summer, so it wouldn't surprise me if the PS3 will be updated soon after

I agree......I think and hope that this will be the case.....I guess the OP and others are wanting to know for sure direct from Sony.....and we haven't seen that.

It would be nice to have Dts Master Audio, but if Sony doesn't, I'd be a pretty darn greedy person to expect "it better come". Sony is already losing money on each PS3 sold. Since this console can do more then any other console on the market for it's price, why should they add DTS MASTER AUDIO? This would take more sales from their standalones. I already pretty much have a free blu-ray player from them. Everybody would be losing big money on standalones if this was the case. How would other companys blu-ray players sell? If you need MA so bad, wait until the end of the year, you may be able to pick one up for 299.99 or most 399.99. This coming from a guy that had a BD30, and heard DTS MA. I sold it the other day. Their aren't a ton of DTS MA blu's out their anyway, and from the DTS MA I heard, PCM and Dolby True HD from the ps3, is plenty good enough, and having a bd30 just for the MA is wasted cash for me IMO, Ill take that cash for more blu-and games now. Like I said, if you add MA to the PS3, anybody that does homework wouldn't even touch a standalone, unless the ps3 looked super ugly to him or something, wouldn't make sense. If I'm Sony I wouldn't put MA in the PS3, if people wanted it so bad, they would have to buy a standalone with it, since they are already giving blu-ray players out basically for free in the ps3, why complain over something that was added(blu-ray) to this console, this is a gaming console also. If some one buys a PS3 just for blu-ray, this is more of a loss, since bigger money comes from buying games, so Sony hopes anybody that is not a gamer, would get a standalone, and someone who is a gamer can get the blu-ray and games from the ps3, basically the blu-ray just handed to you for free.

I would like to have DTS-MA in the PS3 and the hope that it will come is one reason that currently I will not look at a standalone. If they come out and say "PS3 will never do DTS-MA" then I will probably buy a standalone later this year when the profile 2.0 players come out.

I this case, not saying something one way or another hurts their sales of standalone as well.

I am not of the opinion that "they have to add it", but would like to know if they plan to or not. Just a simple yes or no would be nice.

Let me start out by saying that if/when Sony updates the PS3 to either bitstream or decode DTS HD MA, I will be a very happy man.

With that said, let's not forget what Sony is in the business to do. Make money for their shareholders. Nothing more, nothing less. So to be a conspiracy theorist for a moment, wouldn't it be in Sony's interest (financially) to not update the PS3? That way you and I would be forced to shell out another roughly $500 to get a player that could bitstream or decode all HD audio formats along with being 2.0 compliant.

Trust me, I would love to be totally wrong here, but I think we have all read the stories that Sony lost or is losing money on every PS3 sold. I gotta figure that they are looking into ways to recoup the amount of money spent (or lost) to date with Blu-Ray and the PS3. I don't see disc sales getting them to break-even or surplus anytime soon.

If I hook my PS3 into my audio via HDMI, will the sound be much different than the fiber optic I am using now?

Also does it go:

Jordan we need to know which receiver you have. I can tell you that my setup goes like this.....PS3 to my receiver via HDMI and from my receiver to my monitor via HDMI.

HDMI is better than fiber optic (Toslink).

HMMM YOU SAID

So let me see hear, you said you will sell the ps3 if they say they can't do DTS MA and always hated Sony. By this whole thread it seems like your not a gamer. So why then keep the ps3, if you need MA so bad? Sell the PS3 and go get a standalone that does DTS MA, instead of waiting around for Sony's MA. Like I said, I had a BD30, don't expect a standalone to match the loading speed of the ps3, don't expect a standalone to get you on the internet, and don't expect a standalone to allow you in a place to download upcoming blu-ray trailers, etc, sell the thing so you can get MA, don't understand what your waiting for.

pfft... who ever needed a intermediary in the first place? Everyone already knows its viable and will be implemented... the issue is the deliberate delay.
its quite clear sony doesnt want the ps3 to be the best blu-ray player on the market as it has potential to overshadow its stand-alone models. and thats just too bad. like that old saying, "Family First".
since it looks like no DTSMA this update... i dont see it happening until the sony 08s have their day in the limelight.
