Will a PS3 connected to a Rotel RSP-1069 preamp/processor with HDMI allow me to play DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby True HD?
Right now the setup is only 5.1, will the two center back channels just be cut off (which is what I hope will happen)? Will the 1069 be able to pass the "Deep Color" video stream on to my tv? With this setup, will I have any other limitations, or will 100% of the PS3/Blu-Ray capabilities be available. Here is the link to the 1069. Right now I pass the 1080p/dd5.1 signal from my xbox 360 through it. 1069 Specs: Decodable Digital Input Signal Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital EX, Dolby Prologic IIx, DTS, DTS_ES, DTS96/24, LPCM (up to 192K), HDCD, MP3, [DVD-A, HDMI HD only] HDMI Input/Output: Version 1.1 Video Format Resolution: 480p/576p, 720p, 1080i, [1080p HDMI only] http://www.rotel.com/NA/products/Pro...ils.htm?Id=463 |

Im fairly new to the home theater world, but in the year since Ive had my PS3 and LCD TV I have found that its just easier to go HDMI directly to the TV as far as display goes, and to go optical sound out of the PS3 into your reciever. however Unless the reciever has TRUE-HD, I dont believe it will come out TRUE-HD. As I understand it passes the signal as apposed to doing all the decoding on the PS3. Ive noticed that the PS3 will recognize almost all of the formats available, however you may need to manually select a setting from the PS3 audio set up.

yes your rotel will be able to pass those formats when your PS3 is set to PCM. the PS3 cannot bitstream the codecs but you WILL hear DTSHDMA and TrueHD with LPCM setting, via HDMI. as for deep color i dont think so but thats not something you need to be concerned with at the current time. ![]() |

I was reading through the Rotel manual, and all I could find was it saying 2.0 PCM.
I would be very cautious before making a purchase. You want something that can play 5.1 or 7.1 PCM from a PS3. |
