Default are there any Blu-ray players that's faster than the PS3?

I currently have three PS3s. I like everything about them, except that they
are quite slown when I insert a Blu-ray movie. It takes a while to spin up
and go through all the junk before the movie actually starts playing.

are there any Blu-ray players that's faster than the PS3?

Thanks!

What? The PS3 is the fastest player. Are you talking about the trailers and stuff? That has nothing to do with the player.

Oh snap, 3000!

Yeah, I'd like to know, too. Mine just sits on the shelf and makes noise.

I think the Panny BD30 is almost as fast as the PS3 and quiet. Not sure how fast the BD50 is.

A good HTPC loads quickly... much quicker than my BDP-S500 (which is not exactly slow). I don't have a PS3, an I couldn't live with a games console in the front room!!!

It's not a game console if you don't use it for games. How do I know this? If a PC with perfect components inside that can turn it into a HTPC is NOT USED as a HTPC, it's just a PC.

NO, there are none faster than the PS3.. not even close.. bd30 nothing! What is funny is even if they make a standalone that comes even close in the future.. the mighty PS3 will top it with a firmware update!

I compare the speed of my PS3 with the BD30, and the PS3 is only slightly faster.

The PS3 is simply the fastest and most future-proof BD player on the market. Period.

If the 15 second wait time is really that unbearable for you, try putting your movie in before getting your snacks. Sheesh!

20 minutes? you can't be serious? I do recall my friends standalone taking about 2 to 3 minutes to rev a BD last time I was over there up but 20 minutes?

I'm still thinking about getting a standalone at some point but I LOVE my ps3 for gaming and BD play =]

Is that speed comparable across the board? BDMV and BD-J titles?

okay, I guess I shouldn't have been complaining about my "slow" PS3s....
Didn't know they were the fastest....

I've never used a real Blu-ray player(stand-alone) before, so my impression
was based on my three PS3s....

Thanks!

By the end of this year, the SoC for BD players are expected to exceed the PS/3 in BD performance.

At this point, the PS/3 is more powerful than any SoC.

I'm sure the complaints will fly about the PS/3 when they are exceeded. There seems to be a recuring expectation that hardware can morph to new realities.

Totally true story my friend.

I checked it against my 80g PS3 and what happens is the main menu comes swooshing in and then starts to light up and short out a little like a neon light.

On my stand alone, that "swooshing" has to come in Frame by frame and must load and refresh with each frame change. It's totally sad, but since I HAVE the PS3, I don't see a reason to throw the stand alone out the window yet.

So I either go get something to eat before I watch Coyote Ugly, Hidalgo or Spiderman 3 or I just watch them on the PS3

But yeah...even with all the firmware updates...True story..AT LEAST 20 minutes.
