Default Blu-ray Disc Cases...I'm going to maim the designer responsible.

Don't get me mistaken - I love my Blu-rays and their cases.

But the ones with the locking tab - I'm going to get my hands on the engineer who drew them up and introduce him to my friend here.

They lock after you open them two or three times and then that's it. They break. One of the tiny, <1mm latches breaks off and then they don't hold. Does the entire tab mechanism - well, can it be removed entirely? My mini-case of OCD is driving me crazy about this, might end up buying new tabs for them or my impatience...

...will get the best of me.

You're supposed to fold it into the case. The latch is there so they don't have to use side/bottom stickers

Fold in, press down, never see it again

Yeah. I LOVE the locking mechinism on the Blu-ray disc cases. The ones on the DVD case are horrible! You forget they are there and keep prying and prying at it before you realize it has 2 locks on the top and bottom keeping it closed. They also stick out a lot when they are open and just get in the way. I HATE them!
But the Blu-ray ones fold in on themselves and are designed to stay folded (they latch there too) so they are always out of the way.

I love that pic you have of the 2 cars! LOL Someone was not thinking when they tried that stunt.

I've been cutting them off with a razor blade.

You know, I'm pretty sure if you have children - they can unlock the tabs and put them back in. Or is it simply another organizational pattern?

The tabs are enabled as stumbling blocks. Children above 4 can unlock the tab for sure but it has to be reinforced with informative messages so that they get the point.

It's just like putting a deadbolt on your door. It won't deter the really determined burglar from getting in. It makes it a bit harder and tells them yet again that they are doing something real bad.

Every so often, a thread about cases appears here, and i never get it. IMO, cases are trivial, i couldn't care less about what kind of case the disc comes in.

like wicky said you could always fold it in, and you wouldn't have to worry about it anymore.

but still i am amazed that you somehow broke the latch. mine are still pristine, and i lock 'em all the time and unlock them, i never broke any. i am just wondering how you broke it.

I have arms like a Tyrannosaur.

And as for Esteban - it is trivial, my friend, and a minor annoyance to which I now know the answer to - now it is no longer an annoyance. So good thing I posted and discovered the method to fix it. Sheesh.

Question Parental Control Sub-Topic

Wow.... I sure didn't know that either. Gonna try it out tonight though. As for parental controls, has anyone tried out the software lockouts where you can lock out movies over PG or something without a password?

I heard it didn't work 100% with DVD's because it was up to the individual disc creation as to whether it could be locked out or not.

Has anyone tried it with BD's yet.... my young daughters are soon going to be old enough where some of my movies would be a concern.

Amazing how the little things slip by. I knew about the locks, but it's cool that a whole new flock of blu owners are learning about them.

I posted about this "annoyance" before, and discoved (via this forum) that you could lock back the tab, but I may cut them off anyways.

Hmm. Quite informative. I had no idea I could do this either. I'll have to mess with it tonight.
