Hello,
I'm having an odd problem. This happens on and off, but usually just to dolby digital tracks. When I go to play a movie, sometimes the sound is low from the centre channel and a bit muffled sounding. I'm using a ps3 to play the dvds/bds and a sony hdmi receiver (it can accept and deal with a 5.1 pcm signal). I've found one solution to the problem, but it's a bit of a pain. I can go to the bd/dvd settings and re-enter that the ps3 should send out audio through hdmi as pcm and I get the centre channel back to normal. Does anyone know why this happens? |

Do a search for your player on www.avsforum.com . There is likely an entire owners thread dedicated to your receiver.

I'm not having much luck there.
It's not like I don't get the centre channel at all. It works most of the time, just sometimes it's low and muffled sounding. Just a bit of PITA sometimes. |

Can you control individual volume/ gain for each of your speakers on your receiver???
Go into your menu and boost your center if you can. Alot of times if a receiver has an auto calibration function, the CPU misses by a couple of beats, because it doesn't hear like you do. I don't know if that's even the case with you...I'm just spit balling, but that may help. Try and check individual speaker settings if you can. |

i actually kind of get the same thing as you do. its only during certain movies that the center channel holding almost all of the dialogue is pecurilarily low.
i was watching saw 2 last night and noticed it a lot during that movie. i have a pretty legit setup for my taste, and i've even got the center channel boosted a couple dB. But every once in awhile i'll stumble upon a movie that has really low volume in the center channel. my guess is its just the movie soundtrack. eh |

I have the receiver with the Sony HTSF2000 HTiB, the STR KS2000 I believe. And the centre channel being mastered low probably isn't it, because I can temporarily fix the problem. I'm just trying to figure out a permanent solution. |
