Just can't wait. Got too much data (over 300 GB a week) and backing up to DVD-R takes too long, it's expensive and compatibility etc sucks. Right now we buy 200GB IDE hard discs like crazy just for back ups.
A lot of ppl I know needs right now: -Maximun capacity: 27GB MINIMUN -Most compatibility: Media must be read and written w/o problems -Security: Media must last and be "scratch proof" -Cheap media: $5 tops - A 7200 200GB ATA133 8MB buffer hard disk can be bought for $200. -Speed: it's always nice and 8000KB/s is a minimun, but will put up with "low" speeds for price, security and compatibility. Whoever comes up with this first, got me waiting in line to buy. |

heh... Blu Ray media is way too expensive for you.
I'd suggest a good old fashioned Tape drive. some of the modern ones are very fast and reliable. |

![]() ... or 500GB, 30Mbps native (1TB, 60Mbps compressed) SA1T1, see http://www.sony.net/Products/storagesolution/sait.html SAIT2, at 1TB, 60MBps native, is due later this year, with SAIT3 (2TB, 120MBps) in 2006 and SAIT4 (4TB, 240MBps) in 2008. Note that the professional disc for data [PDD] currently offers 23GB at 9MBps for around $40 per disc, with 50GB, 11MBps due in 2005 and 100GB, 43MBps in 2007, but if it went multi-headed and double-sided it could offer 200GB at 86MBps in 2007. ... but 23GB or 500GB tape will have to do you in the meantime... :? |
