Default Onkyo all-in-one

http://whathifi.com/home-cinema/arch...nd-system.aspx

Does anyone have any experience/info on this new Onkyo all-in-one surround set-up?

It decodes all of the new lossless formats, so it could be interesting,

2.1 system, optional center and rears.... hmmmm plus, I don't see the advantage to this over a HTIB system..... don't know... might be missing something here.

I wish they had a picture showing the backside connections.

Looks interesting enough.

in essence, this also is considered as an htib system.

sony actually just came out with a 2 piece system, which has a sub and a center speaker. for around 400 clams or so. they also include the hdmi connections that are sought for in higher end receivers. not the passthru but the the ones that can decode the new formats.

when you go 2.1 the 'surrounds' are a dlp effect that they create, making a 'virtual surround' for you using the existing speakers, which in this case, you're better off using your televisions srs surrounds, or virtua surround settings on your tv.

sony also had these to boast, integrating your home theater stand with your speakers. again, a matter of convenience and 'style' over effectivity.

invest in speakers. not 'settle' with em. you're dropping money and you might as well get your moneys worth.

imo, some people do not hesitate to drop 3k for a beautiful tv, and yet cant let go of a dime to buy speakers.
