Default Stupid, stupid, stupid!

So... last night I was hooking up my speakers. I use Banana plugs (which are awesome by the way), however, in my haste to move all of my speakers into the living room for the second time that day (we are selling our house and I rearrange the entire home theater set-up everytime I have a showing. Yeah, I know it sucks, but until we sell our house and find a new one with an awesome entertainment room, my tower speakers, SVS cylinder subwoofer and Onkyo 805 will have to undergo these constant rearrangings until then. D'oh!!), I managed to catch part of the speaker wire under my shoe while I turned the left tower speaker around.

"Riiiiip!" was the noise I heard.

"Oh no!" were the words that spouted from my open mouth.

One of the speaker wires slipped from the banana plug and fell to the floor, the other wire was still stuck into the banana plug, which was still connected to the speaker jack, which was... hanging loosely from the speaker.

Luckily, I re-connected the seperated banana plug and tested the speaker. It still works, but the red connector piece is sort of just hanging from the back of the speaker. Needless to say, I feel like the world's biggest idiot. I can't believe how clumsy and inept I was to do such a crippling thing to part of my less-than-a-month-old $3000 home theater system.

I was thinking of using super-glue to fix it. Does anybody here have a better suggestion?

Thanks in advance.

I would look into getting it repaired. Check with the speaker manufacturer, a local speaker repair shop, or www.partsexpress.com . You should be able to find a replacement jack for you speaker.

What speakers are they? My local shop would probably repair it for me free of charge.... I'd try them....

Ay ay ay... Definitely get that repaired. Just because it's working doesn't mean it will work 2 weeks from now, or the next time you disconnect it for a showing.

I did almost the exact same thing to one of my towers but I ripped the entire terminal off the plate. I had to replace the entire plate but it was a rather easy fix.

It is a Polk Audio RTI A7.
I bought it from Amazon but I live in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Thanks for the advice. I will look into getting it repaired in the next few days. Where do you go to get a free/easy replacement?

That is so not what you said.

That's the closest I could come to an "earmuffs" emoticon.
