Default Onkyo TX-SR875 firmware Update

Hi,

Can anyone here please tell me, where I can download the latest firmware for the Onkyo TX-SR875?

I think it is on 1.05 or maybe even be updated to 1.06 now

Many thanks

onkyousa.com if there is one.

I know there was one for the 605 early models, not sure on the 875.

Hello, as far as I know the latest update was the one that included the major addition of the FULL CONTROL OVER THE REON PROCESSOR as before it had no control at all and was only available on the 905. So if you can use the "hidden" REON menu then I think you have the latest firmware. I think it is 1.04 but not 100% sure.

I do know there is a new FW update for the 905 but the 905 and 875 although very alike , they do have different FW versions available for each.

As far as www.ONKYOUSA.com.com goes they are pretty useless when it comes to available updates for the 875/905 as I guess they dont want the end-user to know that first and second shipments of there flagship and secondary model had so many issues.

I must also mention that I have heard alto of ONKYO owners with this years 1.3HDMI A/V receivers have had a "popping" sound when it "handshakes" with a PS3 via HDMI. I know the FW that included the REON menu in the 875 has also fixed this issue as I originally had a 1.02FW and when I received a replacement unit it shipped with new FW and fixed this issue.

For the 875 I know of these fixes in current FW V 1.04

1. REON VIDEO CONTROLS "HIDDEN MENU"
(THE "HIDDEN MENU" CAN BE ACCESSED BY HOLDING THE DISPLAY BUTTON ON THE REMOTE FOR APPROXIMATELY 6-8 SECS. IT WILL SHOW "BRIGHTNESS" ON THE UNITS DISPLAY PANEL BUT IT WILL NOT!! SHOW ON THE CONNECTED MONITOR NO MATTER HOW IT IS CONNECTED (HDMI,CV(RGB),COMPOSITE..) ONLY ON THE ACTUAL UNIT ITSELF.

2. THE "POP" SOUND WHEN IT HANDSHAKES WITH THE PS3

3. THE BLACK LEVEL/CONTRAST ISSUE HAS BEEN FIXED AND APPEARS FAR CLEANER AND WITH BRIGHTER WHITES AND BLACKER BLACKS

I think there are some other fixes but they are nominal I think.

The REON VIDEO menu adds full adjustments from +-20 for Brightness, Contrast, Hue, and Saturation. Aswell as a "Picture mode" either Film,Video, or Auto. Also "Edge Enhancement" , "Mosquito NR" "Random NR" (NR Noise Reduction) @ Low , Mid, High , and Off. Also "Block Noise" ON/OFF.

I hope this gives all or at least some of what you were looking for.

Hi, was just reading your posts and I wondered. was there a problem with your 875 that Onkyo have offered to change it or just that the FW is 1.02. Like you I have had mine some time (since they came out in the UK) and am still on 1.02. MAny thanks

I just updated my 875 recently to fix the DTS-HDMA decoding issue. The update is straight forward if you have a CD player connected via optical. First you will need to register your receiver if you haven't already. The update isn't listed (as far as I can see) on the Onkyo USA site, but I found the link to the US update in the forums on this site (http://63.148.251.142/download/firmw...re_replace.cfm). If you have any questions just call Onkyo support (I had one issue registering my unit and the fix was to omit the final letter in my serial number).

Do you guys know if they have updates for the 805? Just curious as that's what I have and it makes that "popping" sound

The update I mentioned above is valid for both the Onkyo 805 and 875.
