Adventures in Babysitting Blu-ray

Adventures in Babysitting Blu-ray Review

IMDB 6.5 Rotten Tomatoes 78%

Quote:
Teenager Chris Parker (Elisabeth Shue) would rather party with her boyfriend, but when her beau breaks their date she reluctantly accepts a babysitting job. It isn't all TV and icebox-raiding when Chris' best friend Brenda (Penelope Ann Miller) calls her to announce that she's stranded at the bus station. With her youthful charges in tow (one of whom, 15-year-old Brad (Keith Coogan), has a hopeless crush on the babysitter), Chris heads into downtown Chicago to go to Brenda's rescue. Thus begins a roller coaster ride of comic mishaps, unexpected perils and hairbreadth escapes. IN one bit, blues singer Albert Collins refuses to allow Chris and company to leave the nightclub they've wandered into until they agree to sing along with a song borrowed from, of all things the 1939 B-picture Nancy Drew, Reporter! . Screenwriter and Steven Spielberg protégé Chris Columbus made his directorial debut with Adventures in Babysitting

I don't know a woman alive over the age of 20 who has not impersonated or recreated the opening scene of that film.

Love this one! If I remember correctly, the original DVD was non anamorphic so seeing this one in HD will certainly be a treat!

I know I was right on top of this title as soon as I saw it was announced.

I remember being a younger movie go-er and being righteously pissed when Elisabeth Shue was NOT nominated as best actress for her performance in this flick

Time has mellowed me a lot and now. I can look with hindsight that it probably was for the best.

I don't think the DVD ever had an anamorphic transfer. I guess that means Disney was forced to create a new HD master. After The Color of Money fiasco, I'm very leery of their future live action output.

I was and still am pretty much in love with Elisabeth Shue from this era..When this came out and BTTF2 came out, wow, she was extremely hot around this time.

Darryl for best actor, ya-think?

Ah, the movie that introduced me to Thor and Playboy. I might have to pick it up for nostalgia's sake. Loved it as a kid.

If the mock-up cover I've seen for this is correct, it has no special features whatsoever.

Not surprised after The Rocketeer.

Before I really knew who Vincent D'Onofrio was, I remember being totally shocked that the same guy who played Gomer Pyle in Full Metal Jacket played Thor in this movie.

That man put quite a lot of muscle on for such a minor role.
