Default Anybody else mad @ Sony

They really have not been stepping up lately.

1. They went from always using PCM tracks to using Dolby TrueHD

2. They aren't offereing Rescue Me Season 4 on BD, its only on DVD, after releasing RM Season 3 on BD. Come on, I don't care if it didn't sell as well as you had hoped. That was back then when there was a heated war, this is now. If you want BD adoption to take off, you need to make sure that there is a BD equivilent to almost every DVD you put out, otherwise people are going to just continue to buy DVDs. not acceptable.

3. PS3 1st party delays: Home, Killzone 2

4. Quality Titles such as Lawrence of Arabia not coming out til 2009. WTF! LoA was listed as a movie "Coming Soon" to Blu-ray in 2006 promos, its going to be 3 years later that it actually comes out.

I think they just delay games because theres kinks they have to work out.

I know some people want things NOW.....But i am the type of person...Take your time...Make the game flawless or close to it...Then bring it out...Nobody likes a game with alot of problems to start off...Give them time there delaying it to make it better...trust me if they wanted to just bring a product out to get your money they would...But they are concerned about quality so you come back and buy again ya know.

Didn't realize Sony had rights to Lawrence of Arabia, but hopefully they're taking their time for a reason. No need to rush one of the best movies ever.

It makes no difference if they use TrueHD or PCM, since they're identical. Games . . . eh . . . games have been delayed for years. I've come to expect that big name games won't come out on the day they're supposed to. As far as LoA. I'll see it when I see it.

Tell me again how this is bad news? TrueHD produces identical sound but leaves more space for higher video bit rates.

I prefer they use a compressed Lossless format myself, it allows for more room for better video and/or extras on the disc. Plus I hear no difference between them, both are excellent!
I could care less about TV series, I also hear overall studios are concentrating on movies coming to video this year and series next year since the market is declining and the economy is bad, cause movies cost less than entire series do.
I would love to see Home on my PS3 this year, but I can live without it AND I want them to do it right, even if it means it has to be delayed till 2009.
I also would rather LoA be done right, and released later, than be done cheaply and released early.
Nothing to hate Sony about from my position.

It is important to note that there are limited blu-ray production lines and with the demise of HD DVD and all studios putting out Blu movies some titles will be delayed and others like TV shows may not be made. Also, restoration of older films takes a lot of effort and time. There are also higher priorities like new releases that will help speed the adoption of blu-ray by the mass market.

But, on an on-topic note, no, I am not mad at Sony. Not in the least. I'm not mad at anything Blu-related in general, honestly.

I does make a difference - PCM needs no decoder and needs no HDMI. Just hook the Multi-channel cables up to your legacy receiver with a multi-channel input and your in buisness. Now you will need a BD player that has a built in decoder (I believe Home Theater magazine in a recent article stated that all BD players don't have this feature - especially if you have an early model) and then go to your multi channel in or a PS3 out to a hdmi receiver that can output audio via HDMI. This is sad !

Don't tell me they didn't know about those codecs last year..THEY KNEW....THEY F'N KNEEEEEEEEEEEEEW!!!!

Thank God for my PS3.

What im annoyed with from Sony as far as BDs are concerned is the lack of 7.1 titles. Im ok with them using TrueHD instead of PCM to save space. But why not use 7.1 then? Blurays need to have 7.1, period. At the VERY LEAST its an upgrade over the DVD version, which would make it a selling point.

Game/movie delays....id rather have things done right. Delays suck, but often times lead to a better product.

Perhaps you are right, the codecs need to be translated differently, but for me and all others using a PS3 with HDMI, there is no problem here at all.
If the studios start to make a trend toward TrueHd and DTS-HD, maybe you should look into a compatible set-up.

A selling point that only ppl with a 7.1 set up can benefit from. MOST people who have a surround sound set-up in their home only have 5.1 and could care less about 7.1.
Sad but true.

I would prefer uncompressed (not zipped and then decoded) lossless sound over higher video bit rates any day. The picture is good enough for me now. My eyesight is not very good so I don't value a more superior picture as much as others. I do however value sound. Even though you are supposed to be unable to tell the difference - I would prefer if the extra room was used for sound. That's just me.
