Sorry if this has been posted before but I could not find any thread about this movie so here we go (again?)

There are some reports on the net that this movie is currently being restored to a much more complete version, which would match (or almost match) the original roadshow version incl. the police radio calls during intermission.

Does anyone have more information about this?

I wonder if it has been possible to restore all of the missing footage/audio.

There is an article which is now a couple of years old and tells that a few minutes of audio and video are still missing. But at that time research work has not been completed so far.

And now that we have 2008 I wonder if we will see this great classic which is one of my favourites anytime soon and in which version...

Oh wow....this thread brough back some old memories! I have not seen this movie in 15 years probably.

I haven't heard anything about it being updated though.

A Longer Verson??

the DVD I own clocks in at almost 3 hrs.
I viewed it about 2 months ago again. it would be cool to see in Hi-Def Blu the DVD verson is very good pq for sd so a 1080p verson should be easy for the studio to make. it's like a better verson of "Rat Race" IMO.

They're talking about the "Road Show" version, which was shown before they edited it down to the theatrical version with which we're more familiar.

And a lot of people noticed at the time that Rat Race was a weak rip-off of this movie.

supposedly the VHS version IS the roadshow version. The special edition DVD is not - go figure?
