Default Ugh.. Need Help Setting Up

Sooooooo....
I just bought a KDL-40V3000 Sony LCD and a DAVHDX466 surround sound system and im so lost in setting it up I think my head is about to explode. My PS3 is my Blu Ray player and I have an HDMI running from that to the tv. On the dvd player/receiver I an HDMI running from it to the tv as well as those red and white audio cords.
The only speakers that are working are the standing ones beside the tv and the subwoffer. The 2 surround and the central speakers wont work. I have no cords running from the PS3 to the dvd player/receiver, perhaps this might be the problem. If ANYONE has any idea of what I need to do to get this to work pleas let me know. Thanks
ps.. im going insane!!

Ok...if your receiver have a digital optical cable in, you can use optical cable out from PS3 into reciever.

Sorry dude i know its frustrating, that is the exact system I got when I first started out you should make sure the audio settings are not set to stereo It sounds like that is the problem but be warned since I am sure that player does not have optical and does not accept audio through hdmi so you will not get true surround sound you would be better off taking it back and saving a little more cash for a better set up.

yes, take it back immediately.

as zweet said, save up some more money and get a true Receiver with HDMI audio capability.

Snap... how much is ''a little more''? I do want true surround sound but i was hopeing I could stick with the whole sony home theatre in a box thing.

I ****ed around with it a little bit and now all thats playing is the right front speaker and the right surround speaker

wow.. now im more pissed off than ever.. all those jokers at the place I bought it from swore that it would work no problem, im gonna drive there tomorrow and take it back. If I get angry enough I might try demanding that they take it back and give me a system that will work for the same price because they lied to me... even if it's $200 more.

Sony should be ashamed for still making htib with no optical for crying out loud.I forgot that thing only has hdmi out so its a total rip off.I wasted 300 bucks on that thing.Your on the right track coming to this forum people here will hook you up with some knowledge.

Not at all
I paid about 1500 for the KDL-40V3000 Sony LCD and a DAVHDX466 as a combo. The tv was on clearance and to help get them out the door sony threw in the sound system for about 200 more (the tv itself was 1300).

I live in New Brunswick, Canada.
Is their any way I could keep the speakers I have now and just get a reciever that will work for me?

That would work BUT you might not be able to get the ONKYO at that price in Canada.

Here's an update..
I called the guy I bought it from and he told me to get the original cable that came with the PS3, the component cable I believe, and hook it up from the PS3 with the receiver.
So as of now im running an HDMI from the PS3 to the tv (which I think is only sending picture now) and the original component cable to the reveicer. Than im running an HDMI from the receiver to the tv.
I changed the audio settings on the tv so that they run the component cable now, and all speakers are working.
So, now im wondering if what im getting is HD sound. I watched Pirates 2 and Nine Inch Nails live today and they both sounded really good. But is this really HD sound? And if I do decide to take this surround system back and get one with the input/outputs I need will it really make that big of a difference? If this is the case what do you guys reccomend I get?
Thanks for the help everyone, the only thing greater than Blu Ray are its fans, hahaha.
