(somewhat long post ahead, skip to the bolded part if your lazy)
![]() First off, first post, Hi! I've recently gave into temptation and decided my next big purchase would be a lovely HDTV. I saw those blu-ray videos at the big electronic stores and I fell in love. Now, with luck and a recent accumulation of wealth; I've decided is the time to pursue my dream. I bought a HDTV on impulse. I purchased a Phillips 47" LCD (http://www.consumer.philips.com/cons...+47PFL7422D-37) and this being my first big screen HDTV, it's nice, really nice. However, after doing some research on these forums. (wonderful information you guys have here btw.) It seems as if the ps3/blu-ray player that I am about to purchase won't appear the same as the ones at the stores. The HDTV i have only has 60hz refresh rate. Now, here comes the questions/doubts/concerns : I'm no video junkie by any means. Truthfully going to the store and looking at all the different tvs, I noticed very little difference between them. The only thing I really want is that look given from the televisions at those big electronic stores. (anti-jutter?). Soooo, being that it's been maybe 3 days since I purchased my Phillips. Would it be wise to return it and look for a 120hz television? I won't lie, I really fell in love with that "watching it through a window" look and that's all I really want from my HDTV. Screen size, the type of tv (lcd/plasma/dlp) and most other features and looks really don't matter to me. In fact, I don't plan on watching it very often as I am very busy with schooling. !!!So my million dollar questions (and the purpose of this post).!!! A. Being a 21 year old college student with very little time (and observational skills) would it be best to keep my tv, or return it for a 120hz one, B. and if it's best to return it. Which one can anyone recommend that won't "break the bank" I'm looking to spend at most under 2k (but reasonably around 1500)? I'll go even as low as a 30" or whatever, just as long as I get that "window" (120hz right? anti jutter?) look. Thanks a lot for reading huge wall of a post and forgive me for being such a newbie. I look forward to reading your replies. PS. SUMMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ![]() |
