Default HDTV buying advice

I am looking to purchase a new HDTV hopefully during the black friday sales but I don't know what to buy. I am looking for a tv in the 58 inch plus range. I can't decide between LCD plasma or led. I know the Pioneers were the best but now they are discontinued. What else is great for picture quality. Any pros and cons for the different styles would be appreciated as well. I will have a PS3 and an HD satellite receiver with an Onkyo HD receiver. Thanks.

Panasonic plasmas. They are the best on the market.

Agree on the Panasonic plasmas. If you've got a room without much natural light, you can get a great deal on plasmas right now. Since most people perceive plasma as an inferior technology for some reason, good deals can be found all over. I guess this is what happens when you believe marketing and advertisers instead of researching the item or technology yourself.

I picked up a 42" Panny plasma for just over $500 on Cyber Monday. Its highest resolution is 720p, but that's good enough for me as this will be for the bedroom where I'm usually asleep or dosing when the TV is on.
