Default Magnavox Blu-ray player - $298.00

I work for Wal-mart,this morning, I noticed a Magnavox blu-ray player, model #NB500MG9 for $298.00. I tried researching on the internet tonight. I can find absolutely nothing about this new blu-ray player, not even on Magnavox.com. It states on the box, SD slot (for firmware updates ?), HDMI 1.3 deep color, 24 FPS, Profile 1.1 compliant, Dolby TrueHD (no DTS-HD ?). Is it required that Profile 1.1 machines be capable to receive a firmware upgrade to Profile 2.0 ? I know the new Sony model #BDP-S350 is 1.1, and capable of going 2.0 by firmware upgrade. Can anyone find ANYTHING about this new blu-ray player ? It is a nice looking machine. I would just like to be sure that I can do a firmware update to make it Profile 2.0 compliant, if I chose to do so at a later time !

If you get one, let us know how it is. Load times etc. Definitely the ugliest machine I have seen

i wish all players would decoded DDTHD and DTSMA...it would be better for the people to can't afford to buy all new recievers even if they have some with HDMI already.

That pic doesn't do it justice...it actually looks decent (in the promotional pic). If you look in the other thread for the picture of the player taken at WM it looks a lot worse...and cheap.

Does THAT pic do it justice? It looks like it was snapped by a cell phone, and is out of focus.

Point: See it for yourself before making appearance judgements.

Funny how the XA2 was by all accounts a decent player, but it looked cheap and crappy.

Gary

Well I saw it today at WM for that price and thought it was pretty good. They only had 1 in the box left, which means it must be selling pretty good.
