Why PS3 Game dont had HD audio?

Anyone know the reason?

I thought all ps3 games had to have PCM?? maybe i am mistaken. But I know of some games such as uncharted i believe.

I believe that all cross-platform games have only included lossy 5.1 audio. However, any exclusive PS3 titles have all been lossless audio. Here's a list I found on another forum:

Lossless audio wouldn't be as important to me on a video game as it would on a movie.

But still, lossless audio is still awesome!

Some titles do, some titles don't.

With cross-plats, you'll find that they tend to go for lowest common alot more with regards to sound. Why mix 7.1 audio, when the best you're going to be able to deal with is 5.1 DolbyDigital Plus?

Well, you may not need a 7.1 mix in order to get in-game 5.1 Dolby Digital Plus, but you do need to "render" a 5.1 uncompressed mix, that you can then realtime encode.

In the case of a PS3 using HDMI for audio, the realtime encoding step is then simply a waste of time (and quality).
