I wasn't sure wether to make this thread or not, but even though the PS3 will beat the Wii by 2012, our main focus is the 360. Now I don't dis any of the consoles in any way, but if you look at the figures, it shows that by 2009, the PS3 will have outsold the 360 by approximatly 10 million units. I also expect the comments box in this link to have been filled with angry 360 jaroni's by the time you read this.

no way PS3 is going to catch the wii. it will catch the 360 around that time frame. the wii has sold 12 million more units than the PS3 and shows no signs of slowing down.

i think the ps3 kills the 360 in the gaming dept and ofcourse the hardware specs. i called a gamestop today and asked wether i should buy a 360 or ps3 and he said this "360 has AND ALWAYS WILL HAVE better games and microsoft has fixed all the issues with the hardware"........i responded with "do you believe the shit that comes outta your mouth or are you just that stupid" i said 1st off it like 1 in every 5 360's that get the ring of death, 2nd the 360 is getting 4 games this year.......4 GAMES THAT'S IT! AND FRANKLY HALO SUCKS ASS SO DONT SELL ME ON THAT!. 4 GAMES ARE:

1.gears 2
2. ninja gaiden (why do i see this coming to the ps3 later on)
3. fable 2 (it's ok)
4. halo wars (please spare me for 2 reasons 1. halo sucks and 2. an rts on a console that doesnt support mouse and keyboard....need i say more?)

i have a 360 and hardly ever play it. ill buy gears but other then that ill pass and il get bioshock 2 on ps3.

i personally like a reliable system that works.

ps3 will outsell the 360 and very soon, not only that but now people want a bd player and the ps3 is the best choice period. plus the ps3 has better games in my opinion, i mean unless all you want to play is first person shooters then by all means get a 360 and limit yourself......remember these are the same guys who said "we went with hd-dvd b/c 25gb is far more then enough space and better"..........DUMBASSES!

As for the wii, it's just fun period. it outsells b/c it's been so hard to find......look at shooter on bd selling for 50-90 on ebay, you can find it now and look now you can get it on ebay for 19.00! why? b/c people want what they cant have/find. once the wii is instock everywhere that will be it and not only that but the wii is really only good for the 1st party stuff like mario and wii fit stuff. nintendo lets anyone release a game on the wii and 80% of those suck hard! so 2012 i think it might outsell it by 2011 if the wii comes more avalible.

The rock called people Jabronis lol. I believe the PS3 will sell more then the Wii. The cutness of the Wii fad will fade off around the 45 million mark I believe. Only time will tell though.

Halo Wars could be good if they do it right, reason 1. The controls migth work like with Battle For Middle earth 2 on the 360. reason 2. halo can't possibly suck as much as you say with such a HUGE fan base. So even when you say it sucks, that does not make it fact.

Viva Pinyata is a very underrated game. I know many people who loved it. The next one will hopefully be just as fun.

Halo is a strong brand that was built primarily on the first release (which was originally going to be a Macintosh only game, btw). Microsoft bought up Bungie to use the title as a launch platform for the original Xbox (I know the story well, I was a part of it) ending it's Macintosh exclusive nature and everything else. The game had already been building tremendous hype... Why? Because it was 'bigger' than previous FPS games. It utilized a much larger 3D space and was pretty creative in it's presentation (and vehicles). The co-op was the best at the time.

The first Halo was a truly genre expanding game and it quickly became the brand that made the Xbox.

Unfortunately, all the heart at Bungie apparently went away after the first Halo and it became a marketing and promotional medium for Microsoft to use to sell the Xbox. The game quality went to crap in Halo 2 (and beyond) but the marketing dollars spent to sell it went up... WAY up. In fact, it could be argued that Halo, as an IP, has seen more marketing dollars spent on it than any other franchise to date. Microsoft even imaged the Xbox to align with Halo and brand the two together (green/black motif). Regardless, subsequent Halo releases after the first did not sell because they were 'good' persay, but because the world was told over and over and over that they were 'good'. The games actually did suck. Most of us who played them only played for a week before putting them down. Truly sad for a franchise that really mainstreamed Xbox. Even worse when you look at a modern 'average' FPS release, such as Haze, that, technically, is superior to the current Halo but because of the lack of brand sees reviews far worse just because of hype. Haze shouldn't be rated higher (it is average at best), but Halo should definitely and without question be rated much much lower (it is at least as 'average' as Haze if not more so at this point).

I actually was just going to point out that the Wii is in stock everywhere here. I can go down and buy dozens at my local Walmart right now. No problem. It's actually been like that since January now. Even the Gamestops always have them when I go in.

I do believe that many people misunderstood the context of Sony's commentary regarding 'it's not truly HD until we are in it' or whatever. Many thought that referred to just the gaming side, but I'm pretty sure it was in reference to the BD playback capability of the PS3 as well. In that context, it is 100% true and Sony has lived up to it's hype. Here's hoping the new releases this year bring the bar even higher. I'm pretty sure that buy Spring '09 some pretty big differences between the PS3 and 360 will have begun to be very clear to many people. By the holidays in 2009 PS3 will be the console to buy most likely based on these things and more.

Let's just watch and see.

+100. Absolutely correct. Loved the original Halo. Then it went off the rails as you describe. There was one reviewer that came back and admitted he had given Halo 2 a 10 strictly based on getting caught up in the hype. It was a mediocre game and that's being kind.

Except the latest numbers showed they are still flying off the shelves. If anyone is in Toronto they have a huge Wii Fit display in the Eaton's center...with mostly 40 somethings around it when I was there...interesting.

Yep. Anyone that looked at it objectively instead of jumping on the hate bandwagon saw that.

Try going to any Rogers Video that still sells games, like the one at the Rogers Centre. They have a stack of 10 of them.

After they just had a holiday season in which they were keeping a "Wii waiting list" just in case they got one before Christmas.
