Default Worst Cinema Experiences

I'd have to say the worst cinema experience I can remember was seeing The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring. There was a (no offense to anyone) retarded person sitting behind me making really disgusting noises while I was trying to enjoy the movie. I moved away.

Oh come on, what would you do in that situation?

I saw Passion of the Christ at a 2nd run discount theatre. When the people in front of me wouldn't stop talking between their popcorn and cherry ICEES (body & blood I guess) I got a little upset.

Went to see Titanic. There was a woman and her three very young kids in back of me, running across the isle, hitting the back of mine and other people's chairs. The mother was completely oblivious to the uncontrolled behaviour.

Finally at some point a woman in my isle a few seats down turned around to the mother and said, "Hey, please keep your children quite will you?"

My favourite part then was when the mother then turned to the half crying and squirming three year old and said, "Now look what youv'e done!"

Passion of the Christ. The women that sat next to me was draped across two seats crying, and when I say she was crying I mean absolutely wailing. She started at the mid way point and left the theatre with two minutes left in the movie. Why I didn't get a refund for the movie I don't know.

This will probably raise some hackles, but for me it's a tie between The Thin Red Line and The Wizard of Oz.

The Thin Red Line is the only film I've seen in a cinema where I counted every single projection cue (the small dot in the upper right-hand corner signaling a reel change). I found the movie extremely boring and overly long. I knew going in that it was a methodically paced meditation of a dissociative mindset, but to me it lacked the depth and majesty of similar attempts at that such as Apocalypse Now or Kurosawa's Ran.

I know The Wizard of Oz is revered by many as a great children's film, but I absolutely despise it. I never saw it on TV or video as a kid; the first (and only) time I've seen it was on film in my early 20s. Viewing the movie without any childhood nostalgia, there was nothing in it that appealed to my adult sensibilities. I contend that the best children's movies are those that also have adult appeal (such as A Christmas Story, Time Bandits, Toy Story 1&2, Grave of the Fireflies), something I found extemely lacking in The Wizard of Oz. Out of curiosity, for those of you that do enjoy this movie, did you first view it as a child or adult?

Child. I doubt there is a movie more utterly evocative of my childhood Christmases in England in the 70s. For that I will always love it.

My stepson hates the movie though and has since he was very young.

Wow--Someone else hated Thin Red Line. I usually find something good about a movie--not here. I saw this in a THX theater and the sound sucked. The movie was so frustrating to watch--Here is a flower, here's a battle scene; here is dew dripping off a pretty jungle plant, here's a battle scene. It made me want to jab my eyes out.

This is the only movie that I tell people that I absolutely hate.

I've had three occasions where the theater I was in has been evacuated or closed before the end of the first scene.

So I Married an Axe Murderer - saw the previews - security scare
What Lies Beneath - first scene - fire alarm
LOTR: The Two Towers - projector/film broke during the opening credits

Considering how seldom I go to the cinema, these events truly blow!

I got you all beat!

Think chick I liked made me take her to see "My Baby's Daddy". Worst 1 1/2 hours of my life. I believe she didn't even enjoy it either. Though to pull an 180 "The Gindhouse" and "Kill Bill" was the BEST theater experience of my life. "The Protector" is on the list too, the crowd was insane, they were screaming and hollering thoughout all the fights. What a blast!

had a couple of guys at a theater one time when my wife and I were watching a movie, they were talking and being loud. I finally turned around and said " please be quite" and they said "turn around a you be quite" oh and then i got pissed and said "Shut up or go home"

well after the movie was over they decided to follow my wife and I back to our truck and when i saw them coming i opened my door, reached in back and introduced them 2 to a louisville bat. they thought about it and then turned around and walked away. i felt bad for my wife as she was pretty scared. now she has a gun permit and I do also to carry concealed, not that i would ever want to use one at anytime. but it doesnt hurt to know hoe to use one.

If you talk to people who know Miami well, you'll hear plenty of stories about hot-headed people who seem like they had one shot too many of extra strong espresso (and maybe cocaine, and/or amphetamine to boot).
I would be SO pissed if that happened. BUT it was a woman and a man never hits a woman. You should have punched the guy instead lol.

My WORST experience was during Doomsday.

They played the movie and I watched the whole thing.

I was at LOTR: Two Towers or something, either the second or the third one, I forget, but anyways, about 15 minutes into the movie, one person behind me and my friend threw up all over the place, it smelled so bad I had to leave the theater.
