Default Quickfix to blu-ray regions issue for laptops

Hi all, was ignorant enough to fiddle with the regions setting on my HP Pavilion dv9750us because the discs I got wouldn't play (turns out dual-monitor mode isn't supported in blu-ray mode --that was the only problem), so I ended up getting locked into Region C when I needed to be in A. I solved this by using the windows Restore utility to bring my laptop state to what it was before I started trying to play blu-ray and now it works fine.
Question though, is there any way to disable the locking thingy so I can play movies from other regions w/o having to go thru the Restore hassle? BTW, I am using the supplied HP quickplay software which I think uses Cyberlink Power DVD, but tweaked for HP. OS is Windows Vista Home premium. Any recos too for a better blu-ray play software? Cheers!
