Default Warner "Coffee Table" releases

This may have been overlooked but it is kind of interesting...
http://www.nxtbook.com/nxtbooks/ques...php?startid=10

In the last few paragraphs of the Dirty Harry story it says that Warner plans to release ten of these releases this year.
The Dirty Harry one is the movie in a hard cover case with a 40 page hardcover book with detailed production diaries photos and other things.
The interesting thing is that it says that others planned are Woodstock, Gone With the Wind, North by Northwest, and what looks like versions of Blade Runner and the Harry Potter movies.

If they did this for Batman Begins or The Dark Night I might go for it...maybe even The Matrix or V For Vendetta, but I can't see myself getting any of these titles.

"North by Northwest" and "Gone with the Wind" are definite buys for me. Classic movies. By the time they are released they should be optimized for BD encodes. I'll bet that they are stunning.

I think I would also be interested in the Blade Runner set as long as the accompanying book is of a very high quality and the encodes are BD optimized.

Thumbs up

In my opinion, Warner should focus on higher bitrates for 50 gig BDs, including even better sound options.

Still, BD and Book combos would make nice gifts.

Same here. If I wanted to read, I'd watch Amelie or Pan's Labyrinth.

I'm interested, but they'd have to be quality books. I'm interested in Dirty Harry at the moment, and possibly Gone with the Wind.

That is why I only check out the 40 threads on the home page or my subscribed threads. Otherwise I would lose my whole life to this website

Hmm...more Harry Potter re-releases? Damn it Warner! I'd like to buy NEW movies once in a while instead of triple dipping on the Harry Potter series. Gone With the Wind might be awesome, depending on the book itself and the price difference between the regular GWtW Blu-ray.

I think this idea stinks. It reminds me of the snapper cases that Warner utilized for years. It doesn't look like they have an outer sleeve or the ability to close securely. I prefer the standard Blu-ray case and that should be an option for consumers. Cardboard packaging is damaged easily. If I don't like the looks of the Bonnie and Clyde packaging I will box it back up and return it to Warner before this becomes a standard. If its as bad as it looks I hope there is a concerted campaign to convince them to abandon the idea. Unfortunately they will be putting some of their most cherished titles in this type of packaging. What idiot in marketing actually believes these will be utilized as a coffee table book?

Hey Warner! If you want to create a booklet, put it inside the Blu-ray case …that's what those damn clips are for!

What? Bladerunner? Again? Dear Sir Ridley Scott, stop milking Bladerunner please. You don't want to be greedy George, do you?

id like a v for vendetta release with the graphic novel. (p.s. I am sorry if this is in fact what is being released, I am way too drunk to even see the letters on that article link above to know what the movies are.)
