Default Monoprice HDMI cables

Monoprice.com How do they provide these cables at such a low price? Just wondering because I haven't seen them for less than like $40 for crappy ones in a store.

Anybody know?

And....Are they good cables?

They are good. They are able to sell them for less, because they don't hike up the price for useless marketing and in store promotions.

There is no distrortion on a digital signal it either gets there or it doesn't.

I'll reverse the question - how can companies such as Monster get away with charging so much for a darn cable?

well 99% of the population don't know Monoprice.. and when they buy a TV at Best Buy, the clerk always push for a 99$ HDMI cable saying : You just blew 2000$ on a TV, 99$ on a cable is nothing.

The store makes a LOT of profit on the cable..

Yep, "there's one born every minute".

Stay away from the overpriced cables in stores.

Part of the reason is that Monoprice does not have to come up with a crazy amount of money for naming rights to the old "Candlestick Park".

And to answer your question about quality, monoprice cables are very good. All of my cables are from monoprice. I will never buy a Mon$ter cable again. Spread the word!!!

Try firefold.com for cheap hdmi cables. I bought 2 over a year ago. No problems.

Have any of you had more expensive cables like Monster cables and then purchased these cables from monoprice? If so, there's not any difference in quality (pq, aq)?

With short lengths of HDMI, there is no difference in pq and aq with a monoprice cable vs Mon$ter. It is a digital signal. It either works or it doesn't.

I've used both Monster and Firefold. No difference I could see, (accept the deductions from my checkbook). This was on a 46" Samsung LCD.

Thanks for the help everybody. Just went and picked me up some Monster cables. Just kidding. Went and bought some from monoprice. Weird, shipping was almost more than the cables.

P.S. i bought the 1.3a cables. I'm guessing those are the newest and best available?

Default Cheap

Some things you just shouldn't question, just accept that its cheap, good quality cables. I bought my HDMI cable from them almost a year ago and no problems yet, also i bought 2 wall mounts from them (that were about $20-25) and their still perfect.

Over the last year I have purchsed 6 HDMI cables from Monoprice. Several 6-foot 24AWG and several 6-foot 28AWG. All are still working beautifully. Highly recommended.

as mentioned, its just a matter of getting something from point A to B, it works or not.

a matter of insulation, high quality cables et al, is also in the mix, but then again, we would like to consider most cables out there are built to a certain quality.

i refer to monoprice as a main price point for purchasing cables, and/or bluejeanscable as well. reputation comes from their product, not by its name in my books.

there is such a thing as signal degradation though on any cable... so for longer runs you will need a repeater for cables that are not rated to run those lengths, or cables that have been tested at higher bandwidths and longer cable runs... not saying you have to buy monster, but if you're running a lot of cable be aways of it
