90s slasher movies are, in my opinion, very underrated, so I thought I'd do a separate list for this lesser golden era

Agreed. This thread should expand to include slashers from the 00's since there are way more. The link below (posted on Letterboxd) lists 274, but there are probably still some that are missing.

My three most wanted 90's slashers on Blu-ray are Mirage, All-American Murder and Kolobos.

Not a slasher, but fans of HauntedWeen might like Scary Movie, starring a young, dorky John Hawkes.

I liked the move towards more self aware and comedic slashers as time went on. The genre had pretty much become 'slasher karaoke' with a few fresh faces and a tired plot we've seen over a hundred times before. Aside from the often one-dimensional nature of the stories seemed to be a complete lack of memorable villains over the years. After establishing genre legends like Michael Myers and Jason Vorhees, there just weren't a whole lot of great 'killers' to keep people interested. Remember when tons of kids used to dress up for Hallloween as Jason and Freddy, etc? Most screenwriters seemed to forget about that part of building a great character and thought piecing together the blueprint formula was enough to get by on. There were a few cool niche villains after the golden age that had some appeal, like Angela or the Driller Killer. Candyman was also arguably a great vision and a breath of fresh air. But it was obviously the Scream and Scary Movie franchises that really got things moving the direction of today, for good or for worse.

Complete list of 2000’s slasher movies
I think it might benefit from its own topic, it's such a vast amount of titles

Fun list. Worth mentioning, Maniac Cop 3 is a US blu release.

I know the unreleased list is a work-in-progress, but some titles not yet on there:

Bikini Island
Last Dance
I've Been Waiting For You
Blood Games
Blood Salvage
Skinner
Deadly Game
The Temp
Click: The Calendar Girl Killer

With the omission of the Elm Street and Child's Play sequels, I assume you're sticking to flesh-and-blood slashers, but if you go that route it opens up a ton more (Ghost In The Machine, Dolly Dearest, Evolver, etc). Although you've got The Fear on there, so maybe these were just overlooked. Some people consider Vinegar Syndrome's upcoming Demon Wind to be one, but I always thought it was more Evil Dead.

I have been trying to think of more examples from the 90s, but it turns out all of them were from the 2000s (Valentine, Bloody Murder, etc). I say either start a separate thread for the 2000s or expand this thread to encompass all slashers that came out after the 80s.

The 90s sucked for horror IMO. A major drop off after the incredible 70s and 80s. Maniac Cop 2, Scream 1 and 2 and Wes Craven's New Nightmare are the only slashers I like that year off the top of my head.

I grew up in the era of 90's lashers. I mean well I was a bit older. But I was about the age to see them in theaters by myself almost.

Yep that's the plan, but it'll take a few hours

I'm a big fan of 90s and 00s slashers. Thumbs up for this thread!

Could probably add some of the Chucky movies to this list. Bride of Chucky. Even though he's not a person, it's still sort of a slasher.

Showing my age and my nostalgia here but my five favorite movies of all time:

1. I Know What You Did Last Summer
2. Scream
3. Scream 2
4. Halloween
5. H20

Urban Legend is in my Top 10. Clearly I love this era of slashers!

Great idea, and great list so far.

Just wanted to mention that:
Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre - Part 3 (1990) has a blu release.
